The detail

Set upon the grounds of a large country estate, Wythburn Cottage is superior in every way. With a gold rating from the Visit England tourist board and an outstanding location, it is ideal for a relaxing break amongst the beauty of the Lake District. Expect a stay here to leave you with a ruddy glow and a wholesome country feel.

Expertly renovated, the Grade II listed cottage is part of a group of historic farm buildings which exude a timeless reticence for a natural yet luxurious feel. Its stylish design, which includes oak wood flooring, a cathedral ceiling and exposed stone walls, is the very definition of understated grandeur and is perfect for a memorable escape. The ground floor has an impressive modern kitchen and dining area which is overlooked from above by the sumptuous sitting room. Here, the open plan split level living areas combine modern cooking facilities and quality underfloor heating with an antique cast iron fireplace and traditional leather sofas.

The three double bedrooms, which are split across the cottage’s two floors, each have their own modern en-suite bathroom and a spacious feel. The master double is located off the first floor living area and has an elegant four poster bed, vaulted ceiling and period furniture. The two downstairs bedrooms are equally indulgent with large beds and whitewashed doors opening onto the pretty garden area.

Outside, the cottage has its own lush garden terrace that is surrounded by colourful flowers and mature trees as well as a large private, gated lawned area ideal for a relaxing game of croquet. A large al fresco dining area is ideal for those balmy summer days and clear starry nights while views of the surrounding estate and stunning Eden Valley are never far away.

Located on the edge of Cumbria’s beautiful Lake District, the cottage is perfect for both childhood and adult adventures. With a never ending array of outdoor activities there is something for everyone. Here, long country walks and picturesque bike rides can be coupled with an exhilarating quad bike run or a spot of paintballing. You can even spend a day sailing or canoeing at the nearby Lake Ullswater.
