The Writers' Cabin is tucked away on a tranquil lane amidst wildflowers, with a private deck overlooking the stunning Taran Mountain range. This self-catering sanctuary has been designed for writers who need space and quiet to work on their creative endeavours. It is a wonderful escape from the noise and distraction of life and is sure to provide inspiration and a place to truly focus.
Hand-built by local craftspeople and inspired by North American design, this perfect little larch cabin is fully insulated and double-glazed for your comfort.
You’re three miles from the market town of Machynlleth, which is served by direct trains from Birmingham. The owners can arrange to pick you up if you're travelling without a car and taxis are also available if you decide to travel by public transport. Stock up on supplies for your weekend or week of writing, and you can really immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings.
The cabin is pretty and rustic with all the modern amenities including super-fast satellite WiFi, stationery and plenty of plug sockets, including USB, to keep your laptop fully charged - although you can always try your hand on the vintage typewriter! You’ll find a proper oak writing desk (which once belonged to a literary agency in Soho) facing a window with a picturesque view of the rolling hills where you can let your imagination take flight without distraction.
A generous kitchenette provides everything you’ll need to make yourself a meal and endless cups of tea and coffee whilst you work. There’s a small breakfast counter with two stools so you can keep your writing and dining areas separate.
You’ll find framed artwork by William Stafford, Jill Swarbrick-Banks and Rockwell Kent, and curious objects dotted around from the Poetry Pharmacy to inspire no matter the genre.
When you’ve completed your word count for the day, reward yourself with a cold drink out on the covered deck, if the weather is good you might like to dine alfresco at the round table with a view of nature. And after dinner why not treat yourself to a cleansing sauna? A fabulous way to unwind after a day of world building.
When it’s time for bed you’ll be as snug as a bug in the handcrafted bed with its 1200 pocket-sprung hypoallergenic mattress. And if you need some more inspiration, you’ll find a selection of writing theory books tucked away in the little nook bookshelf by your headrest.
Start the day with an invigorating walk-in shower in the spacious spa inspired bathroom, make yourself a fresh coffee and dive back into your work without any interruption. What a luxury.
If you wish to venture out and explore the area, you can always enjoy a bracing dip in the crystalline River Dulas, a 10 minute drive away. You're also just a 25 minute drive from the closest beach, should you wish to enjoy a windswept walk or afternoon swim.
