Elegance and tranquillity combine at Widworthy Barton, a 16th Century, Grade II listed manor house located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This exquisite Devon home is in a private setting near Honiton and offers stunning views across the surrounding Blackdown Hills.
The ground floor of this amazing property boasts several social spaces for guests to enjoy. There is the Great Hall for formal dining, complete with a large antique oak table, decorative fireplace, and minstrels’ gallery with wooden carvings. The Long Room is the area for some peace and quiet and can either be used as a lounge or even as the ceremony room for weddings, with its ornate ceiling and raised gallery at one end.
The lounge is a large space seating up to 14 people, but remains warm and homely with a log burner and comfy sofas. The bespoke kitchen has original features such as the flagstone floor and wooden beams, but with the luxury of 21st Century living such as an electric range cooker. Adding some modern contrast to Widworthy Barton is the cinema room with 65 inch Ultra HD TV, seating for 14 people, and contemporary lighting.
There are seven double bedrooms. The master suite is the Kremer Room with four-poster king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The Baber and Marwood rooms have super-king beds that can be split into twins and share a bathroom. The Balfour Room is a super-king with a zip/link bed, while the Chichester Room is a super-king and they too share a bathroom with walk-in shower. On the ground floor there are two freshly renovated bedrooms. The Summers Room has a super-king bed and the Oliver Room has a super-king bed that can be split in to twins. The Oliver Room is currently accessed via the Summers Room and they share a bathroom with walk-in shower, making these rooms an ideal space to be shared by a family.
The extensive gardens add to the peace and natural beauty of this holiday home, with an inner courtyard, lawns, and seating scattered around. A walled area holds the partially heated, outdoor pool and its lounging and eating area - perfect for barbecues. There is also a full size tennis court and 100 acres of woodland to go and explore.
For those who venture a little further, the beautiful Jurassic Coast of Devon is only 20 miles away with its array of bays and beaches. The market towns of Honiton and Axminster are also close by, while the historical city of Exeter is 20 miles away.
