  The Detail...

Tucked away on the north Cornish coast, just minutes from Bude, Whalesborough Holiday Cottages provide a home away from home for all sorts of holidaymakers. Whether youre looking for a trip away with the kids, a romantic retreat or a get-together with friends, theres a cottage for you. All guests can also enjoy the wide range of facilities on offer, from the swimming pools and sauna, to the games room and the state of the art gym.

If youre looking for a couples getaway, Barley Park is a fantastic choice. This contemporary and spacious cottage was converted from an old feed mill into open-plan, luxury accommodation. Underfloor heating, a wood burner and a canopy above the super-king bed make this a cosy hideaway for two. If youre bringing the kids along and maybe even the grandparents too, there are cottages available which sleep between four and 10. The larger cottages, such as Calf House which sleeps eight and Nans House which sleeps 10, make perfect accommodation for group trips.

While all the cottages feature contemporary furnishings, sleek modern kitchens, luxurious bathrooms and a spacious open-plan design, each has its own little bit of character. You can easily see why they have all earned the 5-star gold award from Visit England. They have all been named after one of the fields on the estate and some have been converted from the existing farm buildings. For example, Sand Parks was once the old farm workshop and Woody Platt used to be the milking parlour. Now, these buildings have been transformed into modern and spacious holiday homes with everything you need for a self-catering trip. Youll find high-quality appliances in the kitchens, including dishwashers and washing machines, and smart TVs in the lounges and some bedrooms. The cottages are inviting and cosy whatever the weather thanks to sumptuous sofas, wood burners and underfloor heating beneath the elegant tiled floors. Each of the cottages also has an enclosed garden area with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Dogs are also allowed so any four-legged friends are invited along too.

Included in your stay at Whalesborough is free use of the on-site facilities, including the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms at the spa. Treatments are available if youre in need of some real pampering. If you fancy a bit more action, there are tennis, badminton and basketball courts as well as a fully-equipped gym. You can even explore the estate on a segway or take the pace down a little with some coarse fishing on the lake. The estate also has its own Caf/Bistro which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are plenty of facilities to keep the kids entertained, including several play areas and a games room which has pool tables and air hockey.

The estate is ideally located for exploring some of the most spectacular parts of the Cornish coastline. The South West coastal path is just on the doorstep. Head north to Bude or south to Boscastle, there are endless opportunities to explore sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and charming coastal villages along the path. The nearby Camel trail can be explored by foot, bike or even horse and there are plenty of local surf schools to get you out on the waves.
