Located on Cornwall’s south-east coast in the pretty village of Cawsand and just seconds from the sea, Blue Monkey is a great choice for family getaways or holidays with friends. The Grade II listed house sleeps up to 10 in five bedrooms and has its own secluded walled garden. The house is just a stone’s throw from several sandy beaches and is surrounded by stunning countryside, making it a perfect seaside escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are also two kayaks and two paddleboards which you are free to use during your stay.
The open-plan living space is perfect for socialising and entertaining. Comfy sofas and armchairs are gathered around a wood-burning stove in the living area, the perfect place to challenge the family to a board game or to curl up with a book. The large kitchen is fully-equipped and there’s a big dining table where everyone can gather for a hearty breakfast. There’s also a cosy dining area with a beautiful oak table and chairs and exposed brick walls where everyone can swap stories of the day’s adventures over a delicious evening meal.
The three spacious double bedrooms and the twin room are made up with fresh, crisp white Egyptian bed linen and are decorated in light, relaxing tones. The bunk room is a big hit with the kids and is located at the top of the house. The two large double rooms on the first floor have ensuite bathrooms with gorgeous free-standing bathtubs, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the coast. There is another bathroom on the top floor which the remaining bedrooms share and there is an additional bathroom off the utility room on the ground floor.
Outside, the pretty walled garden is a lovely spot to spend long summer days with a barbecue and outdoor lighting keeping you going late into the evening. You can stroll down to one of three sandy beaches where you can go crabbing in the rock pools or explore on the kayaks and paddleboards. The Rame Peninsula and Whitsand Bay’s 7km of sandy beach are nearby and a great spot to learn to surf and even spot some dolphins. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and as the house is located on the South West Coast Path, it’s well worth packing your walking boots.
