Villa San is an artistic hideaway for those in need of a creative boost. The owner's arty and spiritual leanings are infused into the villa design - with a dedicated yoga and meditation terrace and artists' loft studio. Unique wooden carvings and handicrafts from all over Indonesia, China and Africa are entwined through the villa. Some are extremely intricate, others look 'grown' into the property and form special pillars from floor to ceiling.
The function room on the upper floor is perfect for small events - by night you can use the telescope for stargazing - so magical! Additionally, the villa can accommodate up to 50 guests, so it's perfect for a small wedding or a special party.
The 25m aquamarine pool runs through the centre of the villa, with covered gazebo seating for up to 15 people. Bordered by a manicured lawn interspersed with trees, this area is great for a poolside picnic. In a secluded corner, you'll find a Buddhist stupa especially for private prayer, meditation and yoga. There's a dedicated playroom with plenty of toys and equipment the kids will love.
The villa is dressed in a sophisticated red, white and black colour scheme alongside all the natural wood. In the living room, the monochrome geometric rug adds a modern touch. In keeping with Balinese traditions, the terrace has open sides allowing air to flow around. The bedrooms are exquisitely designed with a flexible arrangement of convertible king size and twin beds. Traditional design accents such as a starburst mirror, a row of conical hats and figurines really bring these rooms to life, while the beds and floors are adorned with patterned heritage textiles.
There is no end of ways to relax and indulge a few creative passions on a holiday here. Guests can get stuck into painting in the loft studio and take private yoga classes on the terrace - a perfect way to switch off and de-stress. If you like to keep in shape while you're away, the gym is equipped with a treadmill, exercise bike and a punching bag - great for kicking your workout up a notch!
If chilling out with a movie is more your style, the villa has two media rooms - one with a home theatre system next to the living room and one in the master bedroom. There are awe-inspiring carved wooden elephants in keeping with the traditional woodwork in the Ubud area.
