Tuscany has provided inspiration for artists, creators and thinkers for centuries, and is famous for its wonderful food and wine, culture, landscapes and history. This marvellous part of Italy makes a fabulous region to holiday whether a foodie, culture vulture or nature lover. Villa Roncovisi is situated 250 metres above sea level on Mount Albano in the less-discovered, but thoroughly breathtaking, region of Valdinevole.
The 18th century former-farmhouse has been renovated to a high level offering luxury, comfort and Tuscan character whilst providing guests with all they need for the most relaxing and comfortable of holidays. Set amongst lawned gardens, which offer spectacular views of the Chestnut and Oak-wooded rolling Tuscan hills, it is built from local stone and has terracotta roof tiles.
There is a fabulous pool which offers panoramic vistas and is for the guests' exclusive use. There are sun loungers and a dining set - wonderful for poolside breakfasts or light lunch breaks from a busy day dipping, tanning and luxuriating under the Tuscan sun. Alternatively, there is a further outside dining area under a vine-covered gazebo, this makes a lovely spot for al fresco lunches out-of-the-sun or sociable, extended dinners on long summer nights.
Step inside and the Tuscan tradition continues, with stunning antique furniture, prints and paintings. Tiled floors are covered with beautiful Persian rugs. The cool tiles and shutters keep the villa refreshed during the heat of summer and, in the cooler months, roaring open fires keep the property cosy and homely. A Tuscan kitchen is the heart of the home and this traditional, farmhouse-style kitchen, (one of two) with a wooden dresser and coffee grinder collection, it contains everything chefs need to make the most of the famous local produce.
There is a formal dining room for special occasions which is, like the rest of the property, tasteful and traditional, wooden beams run across the wood panelled ceiling and pretty green shutters sit against light walls. There are two lounge areas and two bathrooms on the ground floor, all the bedrooms and further bathrooms occupy the upper level.
Upstairs and into the magnificent bedrooms, the villa sleeps 19 in seven bedrooms, all with lovely views, non-single beds are all king-sized and mosquito screens cover bedroom windows. There are as further five bathrooms all with jacuzzi baths or showers and lovely toiletries come supplied.
The owners are also offering a water purifier and sterilizer for domestic use to get potable water, plain, cold and sparkling. Apart from the benefit of an excellent quality water, you can also get it directly from the kitchen tap at any time and naturally free. This means there's no need to bring heavy bottles from the supermarket and there is no problem for the recycled plastic trash!
Guests will also be able to receive a welcome basket for dinner and breakfast that will feature spaghetti, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, Chianti wine, bread, and salad. There will also be tea, coffee, milk, butter, croissants, bread, marmalade, cereals and fruit juice.
If you can drag yourself away from the villa and take a stroll to the historic town of Monsummano Terme, famous for its thermal springs and a great spot for a lovely lunch or purchasing some of the local specialties. Many of the famous Tuscan towns and cities are with a 90 minute drive including Florence and Pisa, so if you want to get out and about there's plenty to see and do.
