The detail

Set around the charming green of a private hamlet near the south-east coast of Cornwall, you’ll find these four pretty cottages. Each is unique but all have a blend of traditional Cornish style and contemporary comfort. The cottages also have access to a whole range of services and entertainment facilities you might expect at a high-end hotel rather than self-catering accommodation. Enjoy a game of tennis or try out the pitch and putt before relaxing in your private garden and being treated to a delicious dinner, cooked by a private chef. These cottages offer the best of both worlds, plenty of privacy and space to do your own thing while hotel services are on hand whenever you need them.

Smaller families might want to opt for Dairymaid’s Cottage which is suitable for three guests across two bedrooms. A folding occasional bed can be added to the recently refurbished master bedroom with its impressive king size brass bed. Cobbler’s Cottage and Gameskeeper’s Cottage both sleep four in two bedrooms, while the slightly larger Blacksmith’s Cottage accommodates up to five guests.

All of the cottages have their own character, reflecting the trade they’re named after. In Cobbler’s Cottage, you’ll find an impressive array of cobbler’s tools on display over the fireplace while an old hunting rifle takes pride of place in Gameskeeper’s Cottage.

The buildings have also retained many of their original features, such as the exposed beams crossing the ceilings, beautiful fireplaces and lintels above the windows. The effect is to create warm and welcoming living spaces, inviting you to snuggle up in front of a merrily crackling fire. The kitchens are well equipped for anything from a quick round of toast in the morning to whipping up all the family favourites for dinner and the bathrooms have also been brought right up to date.

You’re free to make use of the on-site facilities, from the tennis court and games room to the relaxation areas in the garden. The paddock is a big hit with children as it’s home to miniature ponies, pygmy goats and chickens. There’s also a hamlet shop where you can pick up any essentials and you’ll also be able to order a breakfast hamper for each day of your stay or some pre-prepared treats to cook on the barbecue in your private garden. If you fancy venturing a little further afield, you have Cornwall's stunning coast in one direction and endless countryside in the other. Learn to surf at one of the local beaches or wander through the charming streets of the seaside town of Looe nearby. Head off on a day trip to the Eden Project or visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan. A stroll along the South West Coastal Path is also a great way to soak up the scenery.
