Just off the south-east coast of Cornwall, near the picturesque seaside town of Looe, you’ll find these charming three-bedroom cottages. They’re part of a private hamlet which offers holiday guests a wide range of services and amenities you might expect at a high-end hotel, while providing plenty of space and privacy in individual cottages. Sit back and relax in your private garden while lunch sizzles away on the BBQ or explore Tremaine’s gardens and grounds, perhaps getting a game of tennis in. The location of the hamlet is perfect for exploring Cornwall. You can spend lazy days at the beach, stride out along the coastal path, visit the Eden Project nearby or head inland to explore some of Cornwall’s beautiful countryside.
There are three cottages available with three bedrooms, all suitable for up to six guests in total, making them perfect for families or seaside escapes with friends. The cottages are all built in a traditional Cornish style and are all packed with their own individual character. The original farmhouse from the 16th century, for example, has a cosy feel with many of its original features still on display. You’ll find the old bread oven in an inglenook fireplace in the living room where you can curl up in the evenings in front of the wood burner.
Ploughman’s Cottage dates back to the 1760s and inside you’ll find the living spaces decorated with the trappings of traditional farm life. There’s even a pair of ploughman’s boots from the late 19th century. In Tinner’s Cottage, you’re more likely to come across the tools of the Cornish tin miners decorating the walls. The cottages have all been brought up to date with all the facilities and amenities you’ll need during your stay, with fully equipped kitchens and powerful showers in the bathrooms. Ploughman’s Cottage and Farmhouse Cottage even have wood-fired spa baths in their private gardens.
There’s plenty to do in the local area, from exploring the hamlet to day trips out and about in Cornwall. You’ll have access to a range of services within Tremaine itself, such as a reception, a shop, a tennis court and even a private chef. Sit back with a book in one of the relaxation areas in the gardens or take the kids to meet the miniature ponies and pygmy goats in the paddock. If you fancy venturing a little further afield, head to the coast for a day at the beach or to learn to surf. There are pretty towns and villages dotted along the coast to explore, such as the nearby town of Looe, which is set on the hillside overlooking the sea and has its own beach.
