Fully renovated in late 2022, The Root House is a top-quality Grade II listed thatched cottage that is bursting with quirky character and charm. The cottage boasts beautiful timber beams, exposed stone walls and even some original cobbled flooring. Combining traditional character with up-to-date modern standards of comfort and convenience, this beautiful home will allow you to experience a slice of history for a unique and unforgettable holiday.

The stunning open-plan living, kitchen and dining area offers a warm and welcoming space to gather with your group. The low ceilings and exposed beams, combined with flagstone floors, cobbles and exposed stone walls create a cosy ambience where you can sink into the soft leather sofas with a glass of your favourite tipple in hand. A roaring fire set in a timber wall is the focal point and sets the scene for long evenings of conversation and games.

The modern kitchen area is inclusive of all your cooking utensils and appliances and allows you to create hearty meals while surrounded by period features and charming touches of history - the perfect blend of old and new. Eat at the comfortably upholstered bench seating around the dining table while you plot your next adventure.

A beautifully styled king size ensuite bedroom can be found on the ground floor, while upstairs there is a further super-king size ensuite room plus another super-king size bedroom and separate bathroom. Your cottage is set back from the road and surrounded by fields, making it perfect for a family getaway. There are many beautiful coastal walks on your doorstep and the cottage is located under a mile from the centre of Croyde, where you’ll find restaurants, quality pubs and ice cream parlours plus various boutiques and surf shops. The beach is great for surfing and bodyboarding and is only a five-minute drive from door to shore. Saunton Sands beach nearby offers surf lessons and stunning dunes while if you’re into riding, beach rides are available from the nearby town of Woolacombe. If golf is more your thing, Saunton Golf Club is only a 10-minute drive away. There truly is something for everyone.
