Located in the heart of the vibrant Cumbrian town of Kendal on the edge of the Lake District, The Rooftop Retreat is ideal for couples or families looking for a relaxed lakeland retreat. Situated on the second floor of a converted Georgian Townhouse, the space is filled with natural light and offers wonderful views over the rooftops of Kendal from the Juliette balcony. Stroll into town to explore the many independent shops, cafes and restaurants in Kendal, or strap on your walking boots for an adventure amongst the fells and valleys of The Lakes, before returning to The Rooftop Retreat to put your feet up in front of the fire.
Step inside the apartment and you’ll find an open-plan space full of light, perfect for relaxing and socialising. Kick back on the sofa in front of the fire in the living room and get stuck into a board game with your loved one. On warmer days, open the French doors out onto the balcony and let in some of that fresh lakeland air. Move through to the stylish kitchen and dining area and you’ll find everything you need to cook a hearty breakfast before a long hike around one of the Lakes. This is the ideal place for preparing the family favourites in the evenings, making meal prep a breeze.
There are two king-size bedrooms decorated in relaxing, neutral tones with luxurious soft furnishings, comfy beds and crisp fresh bedding. Both bedrooms feature lovely views over the rooftops of Kendal and have secondary glazing to make sure you get plenty of peace and quiet. There are two modern bathrooms with rainfall showers and fluffy towels waiting for you.
There’s plenty to do in and around Kendal and many visitors to the Lake District use the town as a base from which they can explore the national park. The apartment is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants so you can explore the town without getting in the car. Around the town itself, there’s plenty to see. Visit the topiary garden at Levens Hall or explore the grounds of Sizergh Castle. There are several museums, including the Lakeland Museum where you can immerse yourself in the history of the area. It’s just a short drive to the shores of the famous Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, and about thirty minutes to the town of Ambleside, at the lake’s northernmost point. This bustling lakeland town is a great spot to start your exploration of the Lake District.

Leave a reviewWe booked four nights at The Rooftop Retreat - what a great find, it's very well located for exploring The Lakes. Lottie is a great host, she’s thought of everything and provided us with really good directions and lots of useful local information. The apartment is light and airy, very comfortable, beautifully furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. Thank you Lottie, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend The Rooftop Retreat.
