Located in the town centre of Dartmouth, The Old Bakery is a beautiful seventeenth-century townhouse with views over the River Dart and the park. With the town’s restaurants, cafes and shops on the doorstep, the seaside nearby and the whole of Devon to explore, this is a great choice for families or friends looking to escape amidst some beautiful scenery.
Step in through the cheerful green front door and past the shopfront-style windows, reminding you of the building’s previous life, and into the contemporary interior. You’ll find yourself in the kitchen with an island, modern appliances and a stylish colour scheme complementing the exposed wooden beams of the ceiling.
The dining area is located at the front of the house, benefitting from those big windows and again, contemporary furnishings and a bold colour scheme alongside the original features of the building. There’s a beautiful exposed brick wall with a fireplace, complete with a wood-burning stove and a stylish velvet sofa to curl up on with a book. There’s additional dining space in the pretty courtyard outside, accessed through the kitchen.
Head upstairs to find the comfy lounge with a huge sofa to sink into and a Smart TV for movie nights in. This room also has beautiful views of the river and plenty of surrounding greenery. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, which could be used as a family suite. The double room has a king-size bed and leads through to the next room with bunk beds, perfect for the kids.
There are two more bedrooms on the second floor, including the master bedroom with stunning views, a king-size bed and an en suite shower room. The second bedroom is a spacious twin with its own en suite bathroom.
The Old Bakery is located in the heart of Dartmouth with everything you could need right on your doorstep. Just across the road there’s a cafe with alfresco dining and river views, a great spot for a cup of coffee or a bit of lunch while you plan the rest of the day’s adventures. There are some great seafood restaurants and bars along the waterfront. Go for a stroll along the river on a sunny day and you’ll pass Dartmouth Castle as you head out to the South West Coastal Path. If you fancy a day at the beach, Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands are good options nearby.
