With spectacular coastal paths entwined with National Trust farmland, it is an inspirational spot between East Prawle and East Portlemouth.
Seacombe House is an award-winning coastal house that has a cedar-clad exterior with stylish interiors. Sitting at the end of a private stone track, it offers uninterrupted views over land, sea and hills. Huge floor to ceiling windows blur the boundaries of outdoors within, while sea-view balconies let the salty sea air flood in. With state of the art technology for heating and ventilation and natural materials of stone and cedar, it has a minimalist design with quality craftsmanship.
The living accommodation can be found on the ground floor and includes a bespoke kitchen/diner and a modern sitting area. Chic leather sofas look out over the terrace, where a large wooden table is perfect for al fresco dining. A secret home cinema is also waiting to be discovered and is hidden behind a bookcase in the comfortable living area. With a HD projector and 106” screen, it has everything you need to enjoy a cosy night in.
Upstairs, there is a stunning glass-fronted hallway with doors leading off in to the three luxurious bedrooms. The two main double rooms have their own private sea-view balconies with deluxe en-suites and custom-made beds. The third bedroom can be set up with a sumptuous double or three single beds. With sink-in mattresses and a sleek finish, they each have a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
The surrounding area has plenty of unforgettable sights and is known for its rocky cliffs, golden beaches and lush rolling farmland. The local Seacombe Sands beach is just a ten minute walk away, and is just one of many pretty spots to be found along the rugged coastal paths. Look out for beautiful wildlife and soaring birds before heading into East Prawle to find the characterful local pub. Surfing, sailing and scuba diving can also be enjoyed at nearby Salcombe, along with traditional fishing trips and delicious local food.
Seacombe was designed by our daughter, Annie Martin, and we built it ourselves. It won two RIBA awards and Telegraph/ Home Building Magazine Best Home. It also has a cinema room.
One of the most spectacular parts of the south west coastal path runs very close to Seacombe.
