Prepare to be astounded as you head towards this quirky wooden house which sits perfectly within the palm of a stoic and historic oak tree. Lifted straight from the pages of make-believe and fairy tales, it is a real life treehouse built for grown up adventures. Hang out here for a romantic and relaxing break amongst nature’s tree folk or bring the kids dreams to life with a swashbuckling country adventure.
Built around the tree’s magnificent branches, the house is a delight for both children and adults to explore. Ascend the wooden staircase to reach the main living accommodation where you’ll find a cosy living room and a separate bespoke kitchen area. With a timelessly simple design, the rooms have high quality wooden furniture, luxurious fur rugs, designer lamps and kitchen mod-cons. A stylish wood burner provides the natural heating and is ideal for turning this childhood fantasy into a truly romantic hideaway.
Head upstairs to find the charming master bedroom which has a unique view straight into the arms of the tree. A sumptuous king-size bed means that there is no trade-off between style and substance while the slanted, beamed ceilings give it that real character feel. A deluxe bathroom with a freestanding copper bath is a luxurious treat and is perfect for relaxing in after those long country walks. For children, there is a magical bunkroom which is bound to wow and a hidden cove for daytime escapes.
Settled in the six acre grounds of the Fox and Hounds Country Hotel in Eggesford, the treehouse has the best of both worlds. High up in the treetops, guests can enjoy utter privacy while still having access to the hotel’s wonderful bar and restaurant facilities. Here you can sample some of the delicious local foods before relaxing on your treetop balcony.
The rural area is also ideal for nature-lovers and boasts an array of colourful birds and wonderful wildlife to spot. Take a stroll down to the River Taw for a glimpse at some of the wonderful local scenery or try some of the hotel’s fishing and shooting activities for that true country experience. If you want to explore further afield, the treehouse is within driving distance of the stunning Devon coastline and also has train links to Exeter and Barnstaple.
