The detail

Enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay in a pretty shepherd’s hut that offers 180 degree views across the Vale of the Red Horse. Located in a five acre meadow near the Warwickshire town of Banbury in the Cotswolds, it is the perfect place to get away from it all.

Sleeping up to two people, the hut has been lovingly crafted with creativity and quality workmanship at the forefront. The open plan space comprises of a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, electric oven, and fridge/freezer, as well as a spacious seating area with dining table and a TV and DVD player hidden behind sliding doors. This also doubles up as a bedroom, with the double bed simply folding down and revealing a shuttered window in the process.

There is a separate bathroom with large shower, toilet, and a Moroccan-style basin. WiFi and a range of board games keep those staying entertained, although getting into the great outdoors is what this location is really all about. Sit out on the private patio and enjoy food on the barbecue/fire pit, while taking in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The Look Out is close to two walking paths, which both lead to nearby attractions. Both the Castle Pub in Edgehill and the Rose and Crown in Ratley are worth a visit and are only 20 and 25 minutes away respectively on foot. The village of Radway is also a must for history lovers as the church is home to a museum collection about the battle of Edgehill - the first of the civil war.

For those who want to venture a little further afield there is plenty more to discover in the area by car. Stratford on Avon - the home of Shakespeare - Leamington Spa, Oxford, and shopping at Bicester Village are all within 45 minutes and are also accessible by train from Banbury. Alternatively, head out into the Cotswolds and see the pretty villages and National Trust highlights such as Blenheim Palace and Hidcote House and Garden.

This place is wonderful!! The owners went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. There was home cooked bread, cookies and birthday cupcakes for my partner. The property itself is completely spotless, surprisingly spacious and really cosy with beautiful decor and a lovely big hot shower! The bed is very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The views are stunning and even better in person. The fire pit is a really nice touch. They have got an extensive list of brilliant local activities with delicious country pubs near by. Would definitely recommend couples - very romantic winter escape !

This place is so wonderful. We usually stay in hotels and wanted to try something a little different and we absolutely loved it. Brenda and Norman are extremely friendly and they have thought of everything with all of the little extra touches, the homemade hamper was lovely. The bed is comfy and the shower has great pressure. The views speak for themselves, it was so lovely to wake up to that scenery every morning. We will definitely be back again :)

My 16 year old daughter and I spent two nights at The Look Out and we have an amazing break. The Look Out is out of this world. We loved every single thing about it. Upon arrival we were met by Brenda who is lovely. Both Brenda and Norman have thought of absolutely everything to ensure your stay in the Look Out is perfect. The shepherds hut is spotless, cosy and so very quaint. The bed is comfy and the shower is perfect. The home-made bread, cookies and plum jam were delightful. I can honestly say there was nothing I could fault about the accommodation or the hosts. On top of that the views are amazing. The little patio area with tables and chairs and fire pit were perfect for toasting marshmallows on our first evening. Brenda provided us with a range of local walks which was a great help and we did two of them. The recommended pubs (Castle and the Rose & Crown) are both wonderful places with warm welcomes. We also ventured to the Carpenters Farm shop and picked up some lovely produce. I wish I could have stayed longer. We will definitely return probably in the Summer time.

Lovely stay for me and my daughter who enjoyed herself tremendously. The views were great and my daughter loved the homemade cookies and jam. Brenda and Norman's hospitality are second to none.

Perfect weekend away. The hut was really clean and spacious with amazing views to wake up to in the morning and look out over while sitting by the fire in the evenings. Lots of great walks on your doorstep and within easy reach of Oxford/Stratford for a day out. Brenda and Norman were really helpful and gave us lots of useful advice about the area.

We stayed at The Look Out for two nights and absolutely loved it! Brenda and Norman are the most wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble for either of them. The welcome hamper, booklet of suggested walks and clear instructions, recommendations of local pubs, cosy slippers and gowns and of course the bottle of bubbly to help us celebrate our engagement was all just utter perfection and made for the most enjoyable stay. Waking up to the views were incredible and made even more perfect when paired with the fresh cafetiere of coffee that we found stored in a dainty little cupboard and Brenda's homemade cookies - divine! We can't wait for our next visit!

Booked 2 nights for husband's birthday. It was simply beautiful. Everything you needed was in the hut. So peaceful and quiet. Spotlessly clean. The views take your breath away and there a numerous pubs to eat out should you not wish to cook. The welcome pack was fabulous with homemade bread and jam. The bottle of champagne was also a thoughtful touch for hubby's birthday. Can't recommend enough. Just to say we would definitely go again. Absolutely fabulous

Just returned from our stay at The Lookout and would highly recommend. The hut itself was so thought out with everything you need for your stay. I was amazed at just how big it was inside and never felt like I didn't have enough room to do what I needed. The shower was a nice size with good water pressure and the bed was very comfy too. The view was absolutely stunning and a joy to wake up to each morning. I would 100% recommend and will be telling all my friends and family to book a stay.

We stayed for 2 nights and couldn't recommend it more highly. The hut was very spacious and beautifully equipped and very comfortable with everything you could need and lots of special little touches. The views were the best we've ever been lucky enough to see on a holiday. It was a bonus to see the beautiful sun rise each morning too. You could spend an entire day just looking at the view let alone visiting the local attractions, we went to Upton House and Compton Verney and ate at The Kitchen and The Falcon and were very pleased with everything. Brenda and Norman were very friendly hosts and very helpful with directions and local information too. I am sure we will return.

I used to stay in loads of different hotels in different places but this time I wanted to try something new. The Look Out is located outside city in lovely countryside with a stunning view, far from noisy city rush, that's why I enjoyed my stay. It was really relaxing, calm and enjoyable. And the view was really beautiful. Owners explained everything, what should I do during my stay, what should I see and so on. And hand made bread with jam for breakfast it was really thoughtful. Definitely will stay again during summer.

Wow what a great place to stay. We were in complete awe of everything in and outside of The Look Out. Everything we needed/wanted had been provided for us (teabags, coffee, sugar, even Scrabble which we played every night!). Loved that there was a bottle of fresh milk awaiting us in the fridge for a cup of tea (I haven't seen milk in a glass bottle for years!) and homemade bread and biscuits. Brenda, Norman and Katie were terrific hosts and and are on hand should you need them. We would definitely recommend The Look Out to anyone wanting a peaceful/relaxing break away.

We were the first guests to experience the Look Out and we absolutely loved It. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay then this is the place to come to! It had everything you needed even home made bread and biscuits. We felt so welcome and received a bottle of champagne in the fridge which went down a treat. The walks around the area are stunning and cannot fault the service from Brenda and Norman. We cannot wait to come back.
