Set amongst some of western England's most picturesque countryside sits a true gem. The Loft is an architect-designed, self-catering property on the edge of Laurel Barn in the Somerset village of Mells. Besides its enviable location just 30-minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bath, The Loft boasts lovely views and a stay that is at once modern and homely. Sleeping a maximum of two guests, this is a bolt hole which is tailor-made for couples. Oh, and dogs are welcome too!
The Loft - entirely open planned - is a bright and airy space, illuminated by its wide feature windows. Upon entering, you will find a comfy sofa to the left, directly facing the striking front window which overlooks the gorgeous Somerset farmland. Facing the front door, you will find the double bed bedecked with soft sheets to help you easily drift off in the evenings. The kitchenette is very well equipped with all the basics needed to cook up a storm, while the circular dining table can easily seat four guests. There is a separate ensuite bathroom which houses a basin, WC and luxuriant rainfall shower. Step outside and onto the gravelled outdoor space where you can unwind at the outdoor seating as you take in the serenity of the Somerset countryside.
Mells is a beautiful village, steeped in history and surrounded by scenic countryside. This makes the area a firm favourite of walkers and cyclists alike. Just a stone's throw from The Loft is The Walled Garden café and The Talbot Inn - an award-winning pub. The Loft also has the enviable status of sitting between the Mendip Hills and Cranborne Chase Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Less than a 10-minute drive east is the town of Frome. Often voted one of the best places to live in the UK, Frome has lots of independent shops, cafés, bars and eateries. Should you wish to venture a little further, the city of Bath is 30-minutes to the north. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bath is known for its Roman spas, Georgian architecture and fantastic shopping. Other lovely places to visit in the area include the fantastic Cheddar Gorge, the marvellous city of Wells, world-famous Glastonbury, the wonderfully fun and vibrant city of Bristol, and Longleat Safari Park.
