The former home of Scottish artist Anne Redpath, the Forbes’ Residence is a historic property located in the East Village of Edinburgh. Built in 1805, it is bustling with gorgeous Georgian architecture, including high ceilings, fireplaces, and impressive windows accompanied with window seats, perfect for watching street life in this quiet and elegant area. The décor inside is bright and striking, with one of the four large bedrooms furnished with wallpaper constructed using the famous ‘Almond Blossom’ painting by Vincent Van Gogh, fitting for art lovers. Sleeping eight, this property is a rare gem, and is a quaint home away from home.

It features two bathrooms, a stunning drawing-room, and a ‘live-in’ kitchen with gorgeous Canadian wooden and original flagstone floors. Each bedroom is furnished with a beautiful chandelier, and the kitchen is fully equipped with an impressive array of facilities, including an American-style fridge-freezer, coffee machine, a large hob and oven, and a dining area perfect for enjoying family meals. The property features a washer and dryer, TV, and internet, and kitchen utensils and basic pantry items are provided.
A stone’s throw from the bustling city area, you needn’t travel far to enjoy a culinary delight. Rejoice with a morning coffee at the Artisan Roast New Town or indulge in an evening meal at ROLLO, both found on the trendy Broughton Street. Edinburgh is a historic city, and the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Old Town, Edinburgh Castle, and Inchcolm Abbey and Island are must-sees. Arthur’s Seat, the remains of an extinct volcano, is an imperative trip, offering up picturesque views.
And for a fun trip, why not visit the quirky Camera Obscura for an afternoon of Instagram-worthy optical illusions?
