  You should know...

  • The Cleeve only has one double bedroom on the ground floor. The other bedrooms are upstairs. Unfortunately, this means that access to these rooms may cause difficulty for those less mobile
  • There are discounts available for smaller groups. All bookings have exclusive use of the entire property

The Details...

The Cleeve is truly magnificent! It is completely framed by unbeatable natural beauty so wherever you are within the grounds of the house, you feel as though you are inside a delightful, hidden paradise. This grand house sleeps up to 28 people so, as you might imagine, is pleasantly spacious. There are nine characterful bedrooms which can be tailored to suit your needs in terms of having family rooms or double/single beds.

There are two fully equipped kitchens (one has a large AGA oven) if you fancy cooking up a storm. Alternatively, if you would rather put your feet up and relax then you can hire chefs and other staff to do all the hard work for you. If it is chilly outside then the two lounges provide the perfect environment for relaxation with their inviting, cosy open fires.

And if the weather is behaving then the two acres of mostly wilderness garden are also a welcome, peaceful retreat. In addition, The Cleeve is located within a Dark Sky Reserve which means that the garden can be a great place for star-gazing too.

If you are feeling adventurous then there are trails leading off directly from The Cleeve which offer the possibility of further charming discoveries. The gardens themselves are full of enchanting trees and plant life and there is a private footbridge too. Beyond the grounds of the house are 267 square miles of the gorgeous Exmoor National Park which offers rugged nature walks, ancient woodland and a vast array of wildlife including Red Deer and the Exmoor ponies.

Across the lane you’ll find a large sports field with many facilities and fun activities for children. The village of Porlock is only a two minute walk away. Once a thriving port, it now offers a marvellous selection of restaurants, tea rooms, shops, pubs, galleries and cafes which cater to all tastes.
