Stylish historic cottage near the Lake District that offers the ideal location for an active rural escape
Time sensitive - don't hang around...
Set amidst the private grounds of Melmerby Hall, in the heart of Cumbria, is Stag Cottage. This peaceful, self-contained 17th century sandstone cottage makes the ideal base for holidays exploring Eden Valley and the Lake District, and is also a super spot for children and dogs.
Stag Cottage boasts its own private gardens, off street parking and entrance way through a stable garden. Inside, you’ll find a beautiful oak and stone floor running throughout the main reception room, which features a huge wood burning stove, plenty of sofas and a TV/DVD player. The fully equipped, handmade oak kitchen boasts wide double doors that open onto the garden, so the kids can go wild whilst you finish your morning cup of coffee in peace.
Step upstairs and appreciate the grandeur of a master bedroom with an antique oak bed and an en suite bathroom with a separate shower and a cast iron bath. The second first floor bedroom can either be arranged as a 6 foot bed or as two single beds depending on your requirements, whilst the third ground floor bedroom can either be arranged as a king sized bed or as two single beds, and comes with an en suite shower room.
Outside there’s a BBQ for cooking al fresco on sunny days. The walled garden is completely enclosed, so perfect for letting dogs and children play.
The location is perfect for exploring the nearby Eden Valley and the Lake District. Hire bikes, head out on foot with a picnic or bring your fishing tackle for a day spent at one of the many nearby fishing spots. Clay pigeon shooting and even paintballing can be arranged at Melmerby Hall, or head to Ullswater for sailing, canoeing or even a pony trekking with the stunning Cumbrian views for company. Kids, big and small, will surely delight in the opportunity for exploration and fairy tale that this stunning location suggests.
