  The Detail...

Sigh is a 17th century farmhouse nestled in the medieval, Italian village of Alessano, Puglia. Founded on the inspirational notions of rebirth and renewed prospects, it fuses age-old traditions with innovative, style concepts. Expect beautiful architecture and indulgent luxuries, as you sample the rich Italian foods and the stunning Puglia scenery.

The gorgeous masseria is named after the Greek word for silence and oozes with a blissful ambience rooted in peace and tranquillity. The design has been credited to the historic roots of the Salento region, and blends the calmness of the local monastery with the craftsmanship of the natural quarry.

It has a spacious open-plan living area and a sublime family bedroom, along with a private outdoor sanctuary with a sun-kissed, stone terrace. Relax in the heated plunge pool with its Roman-inspired features, sunbathing on the double sun-loungers or gathering around the alfresco dining terrace.

Inside, the villa has been expertly finished, breathing new life into the traditional rural building. There are rustic stone alcoves and high vaulted ceilings, framing classic, mottled walls and elegant archways. A soothing colour palette gives it a minimalist style, while its Italian tiles and artisan furnishings add to its sophisticated design. Contemporary home comforts also bring it right up-to-date and include a well-equipped kitchen and sink-in beds.

Socialise in the open-plan living area or retreat to the sumptuous family bedroom, complete with one double bed and single for the children. A decadent in-room tub is even on hand for those relaxing nights in, and is joined by thick, fluffy towels and a chic en-suite bathroom.

Head out from your secluded farmhouse to get a taste of authentic Italian life, taking a five-minute drive to Alessano to stock up on some of the famous, local wines. Wander through its atmospheric, village streets and get to know the locals, before driving further on to see the impressive Italian beaches. Otranto and Gallipoli are both within an hours drive and are undiscovered gems on the idyllic Italian coastline. Admire their golden sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, or their magnificent Baroque buildings and ornate cathedrals.
