Overlooking the glistening Loch, surrounded by green fields full of sheep and dense forests filled with birds and bugs, Craigduckie is an enchanting location to unplug, unwind and spend time with loved ones away from the distractions of everyday life. These two pretty Shepherds Huts are cosy and inviting with traditional duck egg blue cladding and corrugated tin roofs. Step inside and guests will see that every effort has been made to create a glamorous and luxurious experience for?them to enjoy - from the high quality bed linens to the cosy wood burner and modern kitchen.
Begin the day collecting freshly laid eggs from your own hen coup before returning to the warm Shaker-style kitchen to cook up a hearty breakfast. The kitchen is very well equipped which makes self-catering a breeze. There is a Belfast sink, solid oak worktops, a fridge, hob and oven. After breakfast, pull on the wellies and take a stroll to the Loch-side, maybe take a picnic or build a den with little ones.
Head back to the huts for warm showers in the stylish bathrooms, wrap up in large fluffy bath towels before sitting down to dinner. The dining table provides plenty of space to enjoy meals, play board games or plan the next day's adventures. In the evening, when bedtime beckons, it ingeniously turns into a good-sized double bed with a thick duvet and soft pillows. Children will love bedding down on the bunk beds which lie opposite the kitchen and can be folded away, berth-style, during the day to create more space.
The rural location ensures a peaceful night's sleep apart from the the odd bleet or hoot from outside. Guests are invited to make the most of the clear skies and wrap up warm for evenings toasting marshmallows on the firepits and spotting shooting stars as they dash across the night sky.
The Bath Hut can be enjoyed by guests staying at the Ewe View Shepherds Hut. The owners have created a little open fronted hut at the side of Ewe View, which looks out over the rugged landscape towards Loch Fitty. Accessed via a private path from the shepherds hut, two huge, double ended bath tubs lie side by side with quirky copper taps filling them with an abundance of hot water. Imagine soaking away your worries under the stars with the moon reflecting on the loch in the distance.
Craigduckie is the ideal place to get back to nature and there is so much for little ones to explore and discover in the immediate vicinity of the huts. They can climb trees, pond dip and puddle jump, although these activities aren't strictly limited to the children! Further afield, the historic Dunfermline is just two miles away, there is an ancient Abbey to tour and Pittencrieff Park has lovely grounds, a great play park, glass house and a super café.

Leave a reviewWe stayed at Craigduckie Shepherd’s Huts this past week and absolutely loved it. It’s the perfect peaceful escape just a short drive from the city—but it feels like a whole different world. The views of the rolling farmland and the friendly sheep just outside your window are straight out of a storybook. The hut itself was cozy yet surprisingly spacious. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches: plush bedding, a well-equipped kitchenette, and the local welcome basket filled with farm-fresh sausage, bacon, and even a homemade Victoria sponge cake—delicious! One of our favorite surprises was the outdoor soaking tub. Soaking under the stars in the quiet of the countryside was magical. The bunk beds and queen Murphy bed made the layout fun and functional, and the fresh air and peaceful setting gave us exactly the recharge we needed. If you’re looking for something a bit different, quiet, and utterly charming, this is it. We’d happily return!
