Relax and unwind at this stunning Victorian gatekeeper's lodge on the edge of an estate surrounded by beautiful organic gardens and the spectacular countryside of the Scottish Borders. Step through the beautiful wrought iron gateway onto the crunchy gravel and marvel at the wooden planters bursting with stunning plants, flowers and grasses before taking in the charming stone lodge. This enchanting Victorian property charms guests with its ornate wooden roof trim, stone porch way, bay window and iron weather vane on the chimney top.
Guests will be thrilled to discover the interior is just as inspiring and romantic as the exterior. Lovely framed prints hang on pale pastel walls, colourful soft furnishings add pattern and texture and classic styling creates a luxurious and welcoming environment. Take the weight off weary travelling feet in the inviting bay window seat, the ideal spot to sit and recuperate and take in the stunning view out over the garden. A beautiful Persian-style rug sits on the exposed floorboards and a wood burner keeps the chill of cooler nights at bay, while creating a romantic atmosphere. The large welcoming corner sofa is positioned at the perfect angle to watch movies on the wall-mounted television or to bask in the warm sunshine as it pours through the windows.
The kitchen area is country style decorated in pale greys and yellows. It is traditional in style but modern and well-equipped with a lovely breakfast bar with inset induction hob. A wooden kitchen table sits in a sunny spot by the beautiful patio doors which open out to the garden. Outside, in the pretty, tranquil garden, an outdoor dining table and chairs is the perfect base for summer days. And the large lawned area, bordered by a magnificent willow tree, is a lovely spot for youngsters to run and play.
When bedtime beckons, the two stunning bedrooms have been beautifully styled with upholstered chairs and headboards, period pieces and tastefully luxurious soft furnishings. The large family bathroom is exquisite with a roll top bath tub, large rainfall shower, tongue and groove panelling and pretty star patterned floor tiles.
This beautiful lodge will be hard to leave but the local area has much to discover, and there are many hiking and cycling trails nearby. Enjoy a pub lunch after shopping for the essentials in nearby Greenlaw or head over to the lovely market town, Duns, which is home to The Jim Clark Motorsport Museum - a must for petrol heads. Classes can be organised at the cottage - from whisky tasting to watercolour painting - or maybe combine the two!
