With wood floors throughout, Indian rugs here and there, sage walls and raspberry coloured doors and sills, the living room and kitchen area is stylish and inviting. It's a great place to burrow in for the evening with the wood burner crackling away as you sip some wine and catch up with your loved ones.

The kitchen comes fully equipped to prepare an intimate meal which can be enjoyed at the four seater wooden dining table and the hosts will provide a starter pack of essentials to get you going or fill up the fridge if you prefer. If you're not in the mood for cooking you can request menus listing locally sourced treats, home cooked meals, cheeses and a range of award winning gins, beers and English sparkling wine, a real Northumberland experience.

There are two bedrooms, one on the ground floor for those with mobility issues, and one twin room upstairs. They both have a traditional feel with crisp linen sheets, cosy blankets and a soft palette to lull you into a relaxing night's sleep. The hosts have provided dressing gowns and slippers so there's no need to pack any bulky extras. The bathroom is a delight with a beautifully tiled open shower and roll top bathtub with plenty of locally sourced complimentary toiletries to indulge in.

Enjoy a morning coffee in the kitchen or garden before heading out to explore the local area. With miles of beautiful golden sand beaches and stunning rugged cliffs Northumberland has a diverse coastline to enjoy. Bamburgh and Alnmouth are perfect for swimming and sandcastles whilst Howick and Cocklawburn have rock pools and are great fun for fossil hunting.

A visit to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne makes for a wonderful day out but is only accessible when the tide conditions allow, so check before you head over. If you fancy a pint there are plenty of pubs to discover and you might like to start with The Oddfellows Arms, a hugely popular and lively pub in Alnwick. Characterful décor and friendly staff make it a great place for a spot of lunch or an evening jolly. For something a bit special you can't do better than the Treehouse Restaurant in Alnwick Garden. Set within the world's largest treehouse with many trees growing through the floors it is a spectacular place to enjoy some locally inspired food (seafood particularly) with a roaring fire in the centre of the room!
