A romantic retreat for couples with a spirit for adventure, you’ll be transported back in time in this truly unique property. Rosie is a 19th century Gypsy wagon, lovingly refurbished and restored to her former beauty. Hidden away in the charming village of Milford on Sea, she sits outside a working pottery, overlooking a picturesque woodland garden. Every morning a delicious continental breakfast will be brought to the caravan by the thoughtful hosts.
Rosie’s eye-catching exterior has been skilfully painted by one of the last trained Gypsy wagon painters in the country. Inside is just as impressive and has been finished with lots of special touches; from the bespoke curtains and thick velvet cushions to the handcrafted glass knobs on windows and cupboards, every detail has been carefully thought out to complete the Gypsy-chic theme.
A full-size double bed awaits when it’s time to sleep, fitted with a luxurious duvet topped with hand-stitched, vintage lacing. Rosie can be warmed by a cast iron stove, perfect for cosying up when it’s chilly. She is also equipped with an electric kettle and supplies for tea and coffee.
Outside the wagon is a shared patio area with tables and chairs, a delightful spot to break your fast when the weather is pleasant. In the evenings, guests can fire up the wood-burning chimeneas and relax under the stars. A wet room with a toilet and heated shower is a few steps away, with towels, toiletries and a hairdryer provided.
Vinegar Hill Pottery offers rewarding courses for guests who want to learn the basics of the potter’s wheel. After the day your work will be fired and glazed, ready to take home. You might even recognise Vinegar Hill from BBC’s ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’.
You’ll be situated just a short walk from the centre of Milford on Sea. The vibrant village boasts an extensive beachfront lined with brightly coloured beach huts and a good selection of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is sandy at low tide and is popular for swimming or simply kicking back and enjoying the stunning views across the Needles.
Nearby on the coast is the Keyhaven Marshes, which are home to a wide array of wildlife. The saltmarshes are protected by Hurst Spit, a mile of shingle which you can walk along to Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle, a spectacular fortress with an excellent museum and 360-degree views of the Solent.
The picturesque market town of Lymington is a 10-minute drive away, full of eateries, shops and pubs to visit. The town is on the edge of The New Forest National Park, renowned for its spectacular landscapes and miles of trails to explore - a haven for hikers and cyclists.
