Podere Le Rondini, the estate within which this villa is nestled, is the winner of the Certificate of Excellence in Tourism for five consecutive years. The villa itself has been recently renovated to a very high standard and with nine bedrooms would be perfect for a big celebration, family reunion or a large group of friends wanting to soak up the Tuscan sun.
The villa sits in the landscape, a perfect example of rural Tuscan architecture. The interior has high beamed ceilings and red tiled floors and is air conditioned so you can enjoy a comfortable night's sleep even in the height of summer.
As with all Italian homes, the heart of the property is the main kitchen, which is wonderful. Updated to include all the modern appliances, it still retains the charm of a country kitchen and has not one, but two long tables where 22 people can all sit together, prepare food, drink wine, and socialise long into the night. There are two additional smaller kitchens attached to the two living rooms where you can also cook or take advantage of the Moka coffee maker. Both have fabulous stone fireplaces, and there are big cosy sofas for everyone to relax together.
There are nine bedrooms in total, five of which are doubles and the remaining four which can be configured to suit all kinds of arrangements, from doubles, to twins, to triples for families. All of the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of storage, tiled floors, rugs and comfortable beds. There are 10 bathrooms all of which have a shower, bidet and toilet, with one accessible for those with mobility issues.
When the sun is shining you'll want to head to the two outdoor spaces which have plenty of shaded areas and are set up with tables and chairs if you fancy eating alfresco and taking advantage of the BBQ. If you need to cool down you have the added benefit of a swimming pool which is shared with some of the other villas on the estate, but at 15 by 7.5 metres in size, it's more than ample for many people to enjoy and also provides a lovely opportunity to meet others holiday-makers. Grab a paperback and some sun tan lotion and unwind on one of the loungers with a cold drink.
Podere Le Rondini is in the heart of the Chianti region, surrounded by more than 20 hectares of vineyards and olive groves, and only 800 metres from the small village of Poppiano which has an ancient castle dating back hundreds of years. If you fancy exploring further afield you'll be about 25km from Florence and 45km from Siena.
Surrounding the property are some beautiful walks and the estate has shared park areas where you can wander, sit, eat and relax. If you visit in autumn you can join the grape harvest or the collection of olives, a wonderful way to learn about the history of the estate and the olive oil and chianti wine readily available to buy in the area. Your host will be more than happy to recommend places to visit and eat locally. You can also book many activities including cooking lessons, horse riding, wine and sightseeing tours and plenty more.
