Sleep under the stars in the Panorama Glass Lodge, a luxurious Scandinavian cabin by the sea in Iceland. Guests can see both the northern lights and amazing sunsets, as well as other spectacular views, all from the comfort of their own bed.
Located in Hvalfjordur on the west side of the island, those staying are in a glass house that is often described as an igloo. Situated as it is in a remote location, the lodge is perfect for a romantic getaway or for those seeking an adventure.
Inside the lodge is open-plan with a custom made king size bed found inside the glass end of the cabin, meaning you can wake up to your beautiful surroundings, or go to sleep staring up at the night's sky. A small, but well equipped, kitchen comes complete with two electric stoves, a fridge, toaster, water heater and dining table. There is also WiFi and coffee and tea supplied. The stylish bathroom boasts a rainforest shower for that added bit of luxury and also a WC and sink.
Outside there is a decked area and seating for enjoying an alfresco breakfast or an evening drink. There is also a luxury, 2-person hot pot sitting on its own decking. This small heated pool allows guests to relax with a drink while taking in the panoramic views that surround them. Also keep an eye on the aurora forecast for a much sought after glimpse of the northern lights.
Hvalfjordur is quiet and tranquil with its fjords, shores and canyons and is also home to Iceland's highest waterfall, Glymur. Other natural wonders include the historical island Geirsholmi and the Akrafjall and Hafnarfjall mountains. While exploring why not take a visit to Cafe Kjos for a drink or meal overlooking Lake Medalfellsvatn.
There is a supermarket in nearby Mosfellsbaer, along with opportunities for horse riding and quad bike trips. A little further north is the port town of Akranes and its sandy Langisandur beach, where those brave souls can take a dip. A visit to the lighthouse, which has recently been opened to the public, is also worthwhile with the opportunity for views across to Reykjavik.
