Get back to nature but in luxury and style at Kiattua, a glamping adventure in Greenland that is set to be truly unforgettable. Located in the capital of Nuuk this secluded camp is only accessible by boat or helicopter, meaning guests really will be enjoying their own private slice of the spectacular island.
Sitting in a well protected inlet this getaway is among the oldest mountains in the world and the only man-made sights for miles around are Viking ruins from more than 800 years ago. There are stunning views across ice covered waters while a magnificent waterfall provides a constant flow of fresh water.
Guests can choose between a 4, 5, or 7-day adventure package, which includes lodging and all meals and beverages. The private tents are set up as either a twin or double bedroom depending on preference, along with a small table and chairs and a wood stove to ensure the tent is always warm inside even when the weather outside isn't. Each tent also has a private hygiene station complete with hot shower and eco toilet.
The main tipi is the social hub and has its own built-in kitchen so guests can watch the chefs as they prepare gourmet meals. Ingredients are all locally sourced, meaning guests have the opportunity to eat various fresh fish, arctic mushrooms, labrador tea and more. The sauna tents are the perfect way to unwind, as is the hot tub which allows you to look out across the impressive fiords as you relax.
The adventure starts as soon as guests are picked up by the boat. This takes a 50-mile journey through the world's second largest fiord system, with the chance to see humpback whales and many other beautiful sights. Once at Kiattua there is a short hike to the waterfall behind the camp and the stunning views across the valley that can be seen from there. Other activities include a salmon fishing boat cruise at Kapisillit, kayaing and a range of hikes. Then there is the helicopter tour to the ice cap, where guests can enjoy the views and learn about Viking heritage.
