  The Detail...

On the edge of the pretty village of Nethy Bridge in the highlands, Nethy Station is a delightful former railway station, lovingly converted into an eight person self catering holiday cottage, with four bedrooms. Quaint, rural, and one of a kind, Nethy Station is the dream getaway for families or friends looking for something a bit quirky and unusual without having to compromise on comfort or the amenities of the 21st Century.

Inside, Nethy Station has a long, lodge-style communal main living space, with a substantial dining room and sweeping views, making this the ideal place to sit down to a cooked breakfast in the morning while you decide on the days walks, pubs and activities. At the end of the day, most guests tend to congregate in the cosier sitting room, with its comfortable sofas and wood-burning stove, the perfect place to enjoy a bottle of wine as you catch up, or sit around a board game or a film on the flatscreen television.

Each of the four bedrooms are entered from the main corridor. There is a master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two twins, one with an en-suite shower room and stunning original fireplace, and finally a bunk bed which is ever popular with younger guests. At the back of the house is a utility room with full laundry facilities to ensure that you can be back out on the trails and hills every day regardless of the weather.

Outside there is a great set up for outdoor meals, with a full set of dining furniture covered by the old railway awning, the perfect spot to enjoy an outdoors meal while gazing out over the river Nethy. Dating back to 1853, this delightful cottage was renovated in 2020, and contains several throwbacks to its former life - one of the windows started life as the ticket hatch! The dining area was previously the waiting room, and you can still open the doors up onto what was originally the stations platform.

Nethy Station is within easy walking distance to everything you could need from the village, from the popular Nethy House with its wonderful dog-friendly caf, home of great food and fresh coffee to the Spar grocery shop. Nethy Bridge Hotel has a great local bar, and there is both a farm shop nearby, and an award-winning butcher-cum-deli. Of course the proximity to the highlands makes this an ideal spot for parties looking to spend their time rambling and taking lengthy hikes across some of the most stunning landscapes in Scotland.
