  The Detail...

Mint Croft consists of two wonderful, rustic, and super-comfy cottages on the Isle of Skye. The Blackhouse and The Croft House are traditional Hebridean buildings sympathetically renovated to provide two luxurious and relaxing retreats, available to rent separately, on a six acre Highland croft.

The Blackhouse has a turf roof and one metre thick stone walls, making it warm and cosy. Sleeping two people, this romantic getaway has a turf roofed entrance hall. Floor to ceiling windows perfectly frame the amazing views over Loch Snizort to the islands of Harris and Lewis beyond. The living and dining area combines with the hand crafted and fully equipped Devol kitchen. There is also a Fired Earth designer bathroom with large tub and rainforest shower on this level, while heading upstairs leads to the elevated bedroom with Superking size bed and second sitting room. Floor to ceiling windows looks out across the beach of Bein an Sguirr.

The Croft House also sleeps two guests, built in 1934 by local craftsman in village stone. Its views over Loch Snizort look out towards the Ascribe Islands and the Trotternish Ridge. The sitting room and library have stone walls, oak floor boards, and a wood burning stove to ensure it is truly welcoming. Meanwhile, the spacious kitchen and dining area has also been hand crafted by Devol and boasts a slate floor with a large kitchen table. Upstairs is the super king size bedroom with vaulted ceiling, plus an accompanying Fired Earth designer bathroom with rainforest shower and a separate dressing room.

On arrival, a Mint Croft artisan breakfast hamper will be set you up for your stay. Local, seasonal and where possible organic, it features McSweens haggis, Highland organic milk and eggs, Findhorn bread, smoked mackerel from Taynuilt, Orkney butter, Fine Loose tea, Organic coffee beans and much more. For those who want to eat out, Skye is a hub for foodies with world class restaurants, and traditional pubs serving fine local produce.
