These two stunning, self-catering properties are found on the West Coast of the Isle of Harris. Both sleep two and make the perfect couple’s retreat to the Outer Hebrides, one of the most awe-inspiring and remote locations in the UK. You’ll be immersed in the island’s spectacular scenery and can enjoy beautiful views from every window, from the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean to the sheep and lambs roaming the nearby hills. The properties themselves are as impressive as the surroundings, each beautifully designed and finished to an exceptionally high standard, with care and attention put into every detail. If that wasn’t enough, there are lots of thoughtful touches to make your stay extra special, including a complimentary bottle of Bollinger champagne.
House One is the larger of the two properties and is spread across two floors. On the ground floor is a generously sized kitchen-diner room, fully equipped with premium Smeg appliances, spacious worktops, a central island with breakfast stools and a dining table. There is also a seating area where guests can sit back and appreciate the ocean vistas, as well as a utility room and separate WC.
Upstairs you’ll find the main lounge with comfy seating, a TV and a selection of books and boardgames, kept warm by a woodburning stove. There’s also a designated workspace with a desk, ideal if you needed to catch up on some work. The bedroom boasts a super-king size bed with a deep and opulent Aireloom mattress, goose-down bedding and Egyptian cotton sheets. The marble bathroom has a large bathtub, a separate rain head shower and underfloor heating to warm cold feet.
House Two is a single floor property, but still has plenty of space to relax and all the amenities you could wish for. It features a spacious, open-plan layout with a contemporary kitchen (again fitted with Smeg appliances), a gorgeous dining area and a cosy lounge with woodburning stove, TV, books and board games. The bedroom is fitted with the same luxurious bed, mattress and bedding as the first house, ensuring a sound night’s sleep. The bathroom is equally luxurious too, characterised by a striking yellow bathtub.
Both houses have sheltered decking areas with outdoor seating, wonderfully tranquil spaces to watch a famous Hebridean sunset or see some of the isle’s amazing wildlife like rare birds, marine animals and of course, sheep! Each also features fibre optic broadband throughout, and fluffy towels, bathrobes and toiletries are provided for all guests.
The Sheep Station couldn’t be better located as a base to explore the island. The glorious Traigh Mhor beach is just a few minutes’ walk away, as are many footpaths and trails through the rugged countryside, ideal for hiking and cycling. Harris is steeped in history, with heritage fishing villages, churches and whiskey distilleries within driving distance. If you wanted to discover the island by sea, there are boat tours available from the harbours at Leverburgh, Tarbert and Scalpay, offering wildlife experiences, fishing days and visits to remote islands.
