The detail

Lucy is one of four holiday lets at The Four Sisters, with breathtaking views at every turn, and would make a perfect hideaway for a couple with young children, or friends looking for a peaceful base from which to explore the extraordinary Northumberland countryside.

Enter through the barn door to find a bright, warm and welcoming space with a charming open plan living area. Cheerful blue sofas bedecked with bright orange throws create an inviting space with bi-fold doors opening on to the vast endless rolling hills of the countryside. There's a smart TV and a wood burning stove in the corner creating a cosy haven for chilly nights in with wine and a movie.

The kitchen area is spacious and modern with everything you could need to whip up a delicious feast to be enjoyed at the dining table that's just right for four. Touches of the blue and orange have been added here too, tying the big room together in a stylish way. There's a dishwasher and a washer dryer making it all very convenient. The whole open space has wonderful views through every window enveloping you in the calm natural beauty.

There is one large bedroom upstairs with a very comfy bed that can be kept as a double or made into twins. Simply decorated with an understated luxury, the space promises a peaceful night's slumber. And with both a large picture window and several sky lights you'll doze off to the stars above and wake to the sun pouring in.

If you do have smaller kids or friends joining you, the big sofa downstairs opens into an additional double bed where they can snuggle up and listen to the wood burner crackling away.

The high-spec fully tiled bathroom has both a bath and a shower and all the fluffy towels and bed linens are supplied.

In the morning grab a coffee and step out into the garden to enjoy the glorious views, take a stroll and immerse yourself in nature. Alnwick is a lovely area and there's so much to explore. Take a walk around the Cheviots, a range of hills that are majestic to behold. Head over to the International Dark Sky Park and be mesmerised by the Linhope Spout, a stunning waterfall. Hedgeley Ponds are perfect for picnics and if castles are your thing, you're in for a treat because Northumberland is home to more castles than any other county in England.

In Alnwick town centre you'll find some perfect fish and chips at Carlo's, or if you fancy something a bit more elegant, Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel offers fine dining and fireplaces in a refined setting. Or maybe just grab some local produce, head back to Lucy and dine alfresco with the stars twinkling above.
