The Detail...
About a minute’s stroll from the edgy and iconic waterfront of the beach in Brighton, Looking Glass Cottage is a truly unique 16th Century cottage comprehensively decked out inside and out with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Combining the quirky aesthetics of Lewis Carrol’s masterpiece with a perfect location, Looking Glass Cottage is the dream getaway for groups of up to eight plus a baby, looking to spend time in a magical and surreal cottage in the throbbing heart of Britain’s edgiest seaside town.
Everything about this old house suggests quirkiness and creativity, with furnishings, décor and art objects all taken from different passages and characters from the Alice books. From multiple vintage mirrors to playing card themed wallpaper, this remarkable house will leave you feeling immersed in the Alice in Wonderland world. After a nostalgic trip down memory lane, bringing to life the wild universe of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the famous White Rabbit, head out and visit the famous Lanes of Brighton, a series of streets containing excellent small markets and independent shops, celebrated throughout the South East of England.
Looking Glass Cottage has been featured in a number of architecture, lifestyle, and fashion magazines, and as soon as you step inside you’ll realise why. This former fisherman’s cottage is a delight to be in, whether you’re reclining on a super-sumptuous quilted bed or heading from the charming Mad Hatter Lounge out to the terrace to enjoy a glass of wine. Tiled floors, original woodwork, comfortable furniture and artistic furnishings come together to create a house unlike you’ve ever seen.
Two of the three dedicated bedrooms benefit from versatile twin single/double bed sets up, while the third has a double bed. The Mad Hatter Lounge can sleep an additional two guests on the single sofa beds. There is a family size bathroom in the house, as well as a lavatory downstairs.
Long celebrated for its art scene, night life, student population and liberal, laid back attitudes, Brighton is a fantastic city to visit for a night, a long weekend, or six months. No matter what the demographic makeup of your group, you’re bound to find your passion in this seaside paradise. Packed with hidden gems, Brighton coasts some of the best bars in England, a variety of vintage and retro shops and stalls, and wonderful restaurants. If live music is your wheelhouse then you couldn’t hope for a better town to find yourself in.
