Be at one with nature in the spectacular French countryside of Ardeche at Les Cabanes de Labrousse. This perched village comprises of 8 cabins high up in the treetops and offers beautiful views across the National Park of the Monts d’Ardeche.
Each cabin sleeps between 2 and 5 people depending on its size and has a dry toilet. Hut Ecureuil, Hibou Hut, and Renard Hut are probably for the most adventurous, with each having access by rope ladders only. Each accommodates up to 2 people and as well as an external terrace, inside there is a double bed and plenty of storage. Herisson Hut and Marmotte Cabin also sleep 2 people but are accessed by a wooden stairway and are a little more spacious. Once again there is a terrace and a double bed, while there is also a table and chairs.
The Deer Hut sleeps 3 people, while the Castor Family Hut is made up of 2 cabins that share a terrace. The larger one is for the parents and has a double bed, while the other has bench beds and is ideal for children. Finally, the Panda Hut and Ours Hut are the biggest of the lot, sleeping up to 5 people. In each there is a comfy sofa, dining table and chairs, and a double bed on the ground floor. Then the mezzanine level is home to further sleeping quarters. All 4 of these cabins are accessed via wooden staircases.
Every morning the adorable mule of Les Cabanes de Labrousse brings breakfast to the cabins, while there is also an array of other delicious food and drink available throughout the day. Whether it is a charcuterie, gratin of ravioli, a selection of local wines and beers, or champagne of Reims, there is something for everyone.
Ardeche is one of the most stunning areas of Southern France. The river gorges that weave their way between the mountains are a must for canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts, while the Ray-Pic waterfall tumbles down 60 metres. Scale the Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc and take in the wonderful views from its summit, or explore one of the 100 or more caves and their wall paintings that date back 30,000 years.
