The detail

Lamia del Riccio, located in the heart of the Ostuni countryside in the south of Italy, is a beautiful example of an Apulian country house. Hidden away in two and a half acres of land, this is the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday with a bit of peace and quiet. The traditional farmhouse has been transformed into luxurious accommodation with the restoration of the Lamia and the Saracen Trullo. These are the unique and traditional buildings of Puglia and the Trullo features the eye-catching cone-shaped stone roof. Surround yourself with ancient olive trees, groves of citrus trees and fragrant herbs in the beautiful garden which features a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen.

Inside, you’ll find a central building with two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living room and a kitchenette. There’s an older building which makes up a master bedroom suite with the bathroom located in the annexed Saracen Trullo. The interior and exterior design of the property seamlessly combines the property’s origins while adding a modern twist. The whitewashed stone and the traditional architecture are set alongside modern furniture and upholstery, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You’ll find objects around the house which were typically used by Apulian farmers and unique ceramics made locally for the house.

Head outside and you’ll find the private swimming pool, complete with sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Spend your days relaxing by the pool and cooking your favourite Italian dishes in the outdoor kitchen. Under a 50 sqm gazebo, is an induction hob, barbecue, fridge, ice-machine and all the utensils and kitchenware you could need to cook up a feast. There are two smaller gazebos hidden in the garden where you can relax in the shade during the hottest parts of the day.

If you want to explore further than the pool and the beautiful garden, there’s plenty to do in the local area. You can set off on walks through the surrounding countryside straight from the house or spend the day strolling around the villages which are dotted around the countryside with shops selling local produce that you can put on the barbecue later or unique ceramics. Lamia del Riccio is also just 20 minutes from the coast so you can easily spend the day relaxing on the beach before returning to the house for an evening meal cooked in the outdoor kitchen.
