Kempthorne is a lovely Georgian house spread out over three floors and surrounded by beautiful views of Flushing and Falmouth. It would be ideal for a large family holiday or a group of friends seeking a charming getaway nestled in a beautiful old fishing village.
Stepping inside this peaceful haven you'll notice that the interior has been decorated to a very high standard with a mixture of modern and traditional furniture and the walls are adorned with eclectic art reflecting the surrounding sea and fishing port.
The open plan kitchen and dining room is a perfect place to come together for that first welcome drink where you can sit beaneath the pretty wooden beams and the skylight windows. The kitchen is bright, modern and fully equipped with everything you could need to whip up a feast on the big Rangemaster. The dining table is large and is a perfect setting for a big celebratory meal with doors leading out to the courtyard and terraced gardens.
There are two living rooms. One with a big velvet sofa where you can curl up with a good book in front of the wood burner or laze around with fellow guests and chat long into the night. The other room has a big flat screen TV and doubles as a game room so you can play some board games or cosy up and have a movie night with popcorn. There's a second wood burner in the study, so you can get cosy as you check your emails - the study makes Kempthorne ideal for anyone looking to embark on a workation.
There are five bedrooms spread out over the first and second floor and all three have views to the water, whilst two have views of the pretty courtyard. The bedrooms have big comfy beds where you can enjoy a morning coffee whilst gazing across the bay with the light playing on the water as the boats bob up and down. They have a calm vibe and each room has a pop of colour and some nice art on the walls. It feels like home from home but with the standards of high-end hotel.
Both floors have big walk-in rain showers and stylish tiled walls and one of the bathrooms also has a deep roll top bathtub where you can soak away your cares after a day of exploring.
The tiered gardens are a delight with a large pergola on the mid terrace overlooking Falmouth. A large dining table and cushioned wooden benches provide a perfect spot for a summer meal after which you can settle by the chiminea with a drink and watch the sunset. The gardens are also home to a fire pit and more seating leading up to the summerhouse with a fridge, making it a great spot from which to stargaze with a cold beverage!
Head out and you'll find an idyllic and bustling fishing village. There's a sailing club and a ferry service to Falmouth and on to St Mawes for further exploring. You're an eight-minute walk from Kiln Beach, perfect for swimming and sunning. You'll also love the quaint quayside restaurants Waterside, the Michelin starred Harbour House and the Royal Standard Pub, where you can stop for a pint, wonderful meal and chat with the locals.
The village of Flushing is unbelievably pretty with many 17th and 18th century houses lining narrow winding streets, leading down to the water. And, best of all, the local village shop sells fresh baked pastries every morning!
