The detail

Located in the centre of the village of Litton, the two bedroom Holborn Cottage is everything you could want for your break in the Peak District. With Bakewell and Buxton within a 20-minute drive, this cottage is ideal for walkers and cyclists too –beautiful dales and woodlands are just waiting to be discovered.

Dating back to the 17th century, this immaculate cottage can accommodate up to five guests. The main living area features plush soft furnishings, a Smart TV and log burner, making it super-cosy to return to each evening. Adjacent to this is the open-plan kitchen and dining area, where the bare stone walls are contrasted by chic cabinets and high-quality appliances.

There is a lot for the children to enjoy, with DVDs, books and a large cupboard full of games. The cottage is also equipped with Wi-Fi so you can all stay connected should you wish to. A south-facing courtyard area with seating is also available to you, as well as a barbecue.

Holborn Cottage has two attractive double bedrooms, featuring boutique styling and large, comfy beds. For a fifth guest, one of the bedrooms also has a loft bed accessible via a ladder – this is only suitable for older children and adults. These two rooms share a modern shower room with a walk-in shower and underfloor heating

The cottage is just a short walk from the village pub, the popular Red Lion Inn. You also have a community-run store and post office in the village, ideal for all the essentials. Around 15 minutes’ walk away, the larger village of Tideswell offers a few more places to eat, as well as a small supermarket – the Merchant’s Yard restaurant comes highly recommended.

Historic houses including Chatsworth and Haddon Hall make for easy day trips, while Buxton’s ornate Opera House and Pavilion Arts Centre cinema take care of nights at the theatre or the movies. This area’s biggest star attraction, of course, is the stunning scenery – set out early to see it at its very best.
