The Details...

Blending into the Lake District countryside, the hillside Hobbit Holes could go unnoticed at first. Those in the know, however, can open the door to their own private and surprisingly roomy living space, with wonderful views of the Ullswater Valley.

Each Hobbit Hole is energy efficient and superbly insulated, so you wont have to worry about feeling the cold. The space is large enough for a family of six, comprised of up to two adults and up to four children, and offers something more exciting than your average camping trip.

Inside there is a bench, table, heater, bin, lights, plugs and USB charge sockets. A large soft covered sleep ledge covers one end of the Hobbit Hole, measuring 3m x 2m. You will just need to bring your camping gear sleeping bags etc or duvets or blankets. There is also a separate toilet and washbasin in each one.

Some of the Hobbit Holes also welcome dogs, so you really can make it a holiday for the whole family. Theres plenty of space to enjoy outside, with a large covered patio offering a magnificent view of the lake and the fells beyond. The sheltered area right outside your door is ideal for a barbecue or picnic.

Towards the north eastern edge of the Lake District National Park, Ullswater is Englands second-largest lake and perhaps the most beautiful. A haven for water-sports, it is surrounded by irresistible countryside certainly made for walking if you are after an active holiday with gorgeous scenery, Ullswater is going to be hard to beat.

The Hobbit Holes are around 25 minutes drive from Keswick, with Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite Lake and Whinlatter Forest just beyond. To the south, you can be in Ambleside, Kendal or Bowness-on-Windermere in less than 50 minutes, giving you an even greater overview of the region and its natural beauty.
