This stylish converted barn and stables offers groups of up to 10 guests an idyllic holiday retreat in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Set on a gorgeous leafy farm in rural Suffolk and only eight minutes from the wonderful seaside town of Southwold, High Wood Barns is perfect for your next group getaway.
You arrive at the property down a quiet country lane that is tucked nicely away in a tranquil setting. This means that the home offers you plenty of privacy, so you can relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
When it comes to socialising, the barns have two fantastic sitting areas. There’s a nice formal living space that has two large sofas and French doors opening up into the courtyard garden. This is a great spot to get comfy with your loved ones and chat long into the night. The second sitting area is more of a snug and has a lounging sofa and a bean bag, so you can hide away here with a good book if you’re after some peace. In terms of entertainment, the barns have two smart TVs for movie marathons and a selection of books and games as well as local maps for plotting some long walks.
You will love the stylish, modern kitchen and dining room, with its exposed beams, minimalist white design and high ceilings. The kitchen itself will delight your designated chef and is nicely equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals throughout your stay. There’s also a nice breakfast bar with two stools so you can keep the cook company or sit and enjoy a casual breakfast before heading out for the day. The space also features a big dining table with room for your whole group, making it ideal for big social lunches and long hearty suppers.
The kitchen and dining room also features sliding glass doors that open up onto the courtyard garden. Out here is a large stone patio and wooden deck, offering you plenty of space to sit out and unwind in the summer sunshine. Come the evenings the outside lights illuminate the brick courtyard, which shows off the original farm buildings in all their glory.
When it comes to bed time, the barns have five bedrooms, with three bedrooms at one end of the property and two at the other. The bedrooms all make use of minimalist design, with whitewashed walls, exposed beams and plenty of natural light. There are also five bathrooms at the property, so there will be no queueing for showers in the morning.
Since the Barns are situated on a farm, the surroundings are teeming with animals. The little community includes two farm dogs – Woody and Jarvis, a little pygmy goat, Clogs, two white ponies, Pink and Gambie and a herd of Red Poll cattle. You will probably come across several of them during your stay. The dogs, goat and ponies are very friendly. The cows tend to be quite shy.
If you head out, the popular and picturesque seaside town of Southwold is a mere eight minutes away by car. With its sandy beach and fab promenade, the town offers a wonderful day out and has some fantastic shops and places to stop and eat. The wider Suffolk countryside is also just waiting to be explored and there are some lovely walking and cycling trails nearby.
