This elegant cottage is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets. Nestled down a private leafy lane, this gorgeous property has style and tranquility in abundance. The interiors would look right at home in a magazine - seamlessly combining traditional styling with a high-end finish. And with plenty of nods to its Scottish roots, from tartan flourishes to its very own library of Scottish books, you’ll be feeling like a local in no time. Situated in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Edinburgh, there’s plenty to explore - from its famous castle, art galleries and shopping to some of the finest dining available in Scotland.
Head inside this beautiful cottage to discover a sunny south facing lounge. With a cosy fire, pretty tartan textiles and sumptuous seating, this is a great place to immerse yourself in some total relaxation. There’s lots to keep you entertained, from a 40” Smart 4K TV with Freeview, a Blu-ray DVD and Netflix, to board games and a well-stocked library with plenty of Scottish fiction.
The large traditional kitchen is bursting with style, from its characterful units to the gorgeously vibrant pops of pink. It’s not lacking in features either with a range, double oven, Nespresso coffee machine - and some handy cookery books to help inspire you. And the polished granite worktop and Belfast sink keep the finish suitably high-end.
The large dining area is situated next to a very pretty - and very large - window. Giving you fabulous views out over the garden with your morning tea or coffee.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and one twin (that can be made up as a superking if requested). The rooms are both wonderfully elegant with plush Egyptian cotton linen, gloriously muted colour schemes and rich textiles. And with a choice of firm or soft pillows, it’s obvious that the owners really go the extra mile.
The bathroom is sublime with classic wood panelling, a high-spec rain shower and Scottish Fine Soap toiletries. And plenty of delightfully fluffy towels are provided for your stay.
Outside there is a pretty garden fringed by a beautiful stone wall along one side. With a lovely seating area, it’s the ideal place to sit and breathe in the serenity.
With a bursting festival line-up throughout the year, Edinburgh Castle and the historic architecture of the Old and New towns to be explored, alongside art galleries, museums, theatres and shopping - there's more than enough to keep you busy. And for the foodies out there Edinburgh has loads to offer, from street food markets to fine dining (with no ess than four Michelin star restaurants to be found here).

Well, we came back for a second stay! it is everything we wanted for a city holiday, so close to the attractions but beautifully quiet and secluded. Just as Cindy and Paul intended!

We had a enjoyable stay in a delightfully restored cottage. Made perfect by our hospitable hosts Cindy&Paul! We would definitely go again.

This really is the most beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. It’s super clean and is really luxurious. We stayed as a family of 4 for a week and used the buses to get into the city centre which was so easy. Everything was perfect. The hosts Cindy and Paul were really helpful and had thought of everything. We will return as soon as we can! Would highly recommend this cottage as a great base to explore Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

We stayed as a family and had the most wonderful stay in this fantastic cottage! It's immaculately kept and spotlessly clean, with every comfort and amenity you could wish for. It's perfect! Cindy and Paul are amazing hosts. We can't recommend it enough and we very much hope to return.

This is a true hidden gem, tucked away in the suburbs of Edinburgh. High class design, well furnished with stylish furniture and fittings, make this cottage a most comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Park the car and leave it, excellent transport links into Edinburgh are within a two minute walk, making it an ideal base to explore the city and surrounding areas. An excellent welcome pack and warm welcome from Cindy and Paul who have developed this cottage into a stunning, wonderful place to stay. What you see in the pictures is what you get, a spotlessly clean stylish place to stay. Well worth the 5 star rating.

We had a marvellous weeks stay at Glenlockhart Cottage after a month long tour of Scotland. The cottage was a true delight. It was extremely comfortable with every detail considered. We wanted for nothing. It was so peaceful to come back to after the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh that it was very hard to leave it in the morning and many mornings we just gazed at the beautiful garden and listened to the birds -it was lovely! The shops in Morningside were only a short walk/drive away and there were very convenient bus stops nearby that meant getting into the city was very easy and we did not need to use the car. Cindy and Paul were very welcoming and we had a brilliant stay. We are already working out when we can return…

This cottage (and it’s owners) greets you with warmth, style and ease the moment you step through its door - it’s cosy, immaculately designed/kept and very easy to live in. The fluffiest of towels, best rain shower, well equipped kitchen and very comfy beds. Situation is great for accessing the city centre by public transport , handy local shop, and The house book ( which you also get digitally in advance) has loads of useful information as to things to do, places to eat, walks etc. We already had a fairly busy itinerary as were there for the marathon so would absolutely come back to try out other things. It’s definitely a cool stay! Cruden Smith family

We stayed for 6 nights in the cottage and thought it was fabulous. We stay in quite a few cottages around the UK and I have to say that this is the the cleanest and most well equipped one we have been to. It was spotless and had a great welcome pack. We were unbelievably lucky with the weather at the start of our stay - glorious sunshine in March (very unusual) so could enjoy breakfast out in the beautiful garden. We then had snow on the last day so can vouch for the fact that the cottage is a perfect place to stay whatever the weather! Cindy and Paul are just next door if you need them but don’t impose if you don’t. Their attention to detail is great and we loved our time there. We did a lot of walking and happily walked to the city centre from the cottage but the bus routes were great too. We can heartily recommend this cottage for a peaceful stay in a beautiful place.

A beautiful exceptionally well appointed cottage in a perfect location within easy reach of Edinburgh, with a large secluded rear walled garden, great for families. Ample off road parking. Cindy and Paul met us on arrival with friendly smiles and were perfect hosts throughout our stay. A hamper awaited us filled with delicious ‘’Scottish Fayre’’. The information book provided in the cottage, was filled with helpful details regarding all aspects of the cottage, transport and local visitor information. We used the buses frequently which were regular and always on time and just a short walk from the cottage. We would not hesitate in recommending this cottage to our family and friends. Many thanks to Cindy and Paul and see you at some point in the future.

My wife and I, along with our 4 year old and 2 year old had a fantastic stay at Glenlockhart! Before we arrived Cindy had emailed with all the information you could possibly need to know, and even enquired as to what items we might require for the kids which is extremely thoughtful! Cindy and Paul met us on arrival and were very welcoming. The accommodation is 5 stars, everything is like new and it's such a great space to have near the city. The kids were kept entertained with games and Scottish books. There was plenty to read for us too. The kitchen was great and had everything you could need. It was a cold windy February but you couldn't tell inside the cottage as it was cosy and warm and so quiet, just the sounds of the birds in the wood nearby. The garden is immaculate also. We explored local Morningside which is lovely, went to the Dominion cinema, the zoo, and Dalkeith estate country park. We will definitely return! thanks again C&P!

WOW, what a fantastic cottage in a fabulous location and the hospitality was first class. I can't recommend this enough and I will definitely return. In fact, I didn't want to go home.

We can not recommend this cottage enough, an absolutely amazing property, beautifully furnished, lovely & warm, a pleasure to return to each day. You can leave your car parked for the duration & just use the buses ( which where frequent ) to get you to Edinburgh, the castle, the shops, royal yacht etc. It is impeccably clean & would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone visiting Edinburgh. We are hoping to return sometime in the future. Thank you Cindy & Paul for making this a really memorable stay for us.

A lovely, comfortable cottage with Edinburgh easily accessible. We enjoyed a week here from 27 November to 4 December and don't think we could have chosen better. We could not have asked for any more facilities or any better location. We also had blue skies nearly every day so Cindy and Paul clearly have influence somewhere. We certainly recommend and hope to return.

Like the reviews that have gone before Cindy & Paul have thought of everything in terms of home comforts. We were there as a family of four and it is in a great location. You can leave your car all week because it is a very short walk to the bus stop to get into the centre of Edinburgh. It was a great week!

We’ve just spent a week in this lovely cottage. It’s a real home from home not too far from the centre of Edinburgh. The cottage is immaculate and has everything you could possibly want in a holiday home. There’s a gorgeous private garden which is so peaceful you’d think you were in the heart of the countryside. We loved the homely touches and the generous welcome pack was a lovely added extra. Definitely worth a 5 star rating and one we’ll definitely be recommending to family and friends.

Just returned from short break in this delightful cottage. The close proximity to the city centre and the nature reserve walks makes it an ideal location. Cottage is beautifully presented both inside and out, equipped with everything that you would need for your stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Glenlockhart Cottage for a week at the beginning of August. What a fantastic place to stay! It is very comfortable and homely and is very well equipped. It is down a private lane with it's own parking and has a pretty garden surrounded by trees, a little bit of the country in the city! It is a perfect base for discovering Edinburgh. You can hop on a bus just a stones throw away from the cottage and be in the centre of Edinburgh within minutes. The Morningside locality is very close which has an assortment of cafes, restaurants, bars, food shops, independent shops etc. As we came by car we also drove the scenic coastal road to North Berwick, a stop at Dirleton for the beach is a definite must as it is beautiful! Edinburgh is a fantastic city with great shops in the centre and also beautiful parks for a walk! The owners, Cindy and Paul, are very friendly and welcoming! We highly recommend Glenlockhart Cottage if you wish to visit Edinburgh! We are ourselves planning to return at some point in the future.

We stayed in Glenlockhart Cottage for 4 nights. It really is the most fabulous place to stay and the hosts - Cindy and Paul - are extremely helpful and welcoming but do not intrude in any way. The property is absolutely gorgeous and is furnished with care and attention making it feel like a real home from home rather than a rental property. The fixtures, fittings, bedding and towels are all high quality. The kitchen is spacious, beautifully fitted and every single thing you need (and didn't know you needed) are there. A particular bonus is the lovely garden. There is plenty of parking and the property is located down a no-through lane; it is easy to access and totally safe. The city centre bus stop is a 2 min walk as is the bus route to the Royal yacht Britannia; so there is no need to drive. You can walk to a local shop in about 20 minutes in Morningside, which is a very well served suburb of Edinburgh and just 20 minutes from the centre by bus. We would love to stay here again and I am finding it hard to let others know about this lovely cottage. Fantastic.

We have just got back after a short break at Glenlockhart Cottage which was just superb, the cottage itself is perfect, every thing has been thought of by the perfect hosts Cindy and Paul. The cottage is pristine and positioning brilliantly to enjoy the quiet out of town position but equally accessible within short period to Edinburgh city centre. Or as we did ventured out to the coast at North Bewick and beyond We cannot wait to return again which is not some thing we say too often, but it really is somewhere we feel is totally worthy of a return trip!

Glenlockhart Cottage is our new happy place! We loved being there in the summer, when the sun filled garden was so enticing it was hard to tear ourselves away and explore Edinburgh. You would never guess the city centre is so close to this tranquil corner. We've booked another week in the winter and are hoping for snow, but whatever the weather we know Glenlockhart will be warm and cosy - like home, but better. Can't wait to come back!

Wonderful cottage. Tastefully renovated, high quality finishes. Quiet place with nice garden while Morningside, Bruntsfield and city centre easily accessible by bus. Cottage very well equipped and very clean. Owners do understand what hospitality is about; they are very welcoming and helpful. The small well-composed Scottish library is a nice feature that we really enjoyed! Would definitely book again.
