Immerse in the peaceful glen of Pentland Hills in the Scottish countryside at Steading Cottage, an 18th Century hay shed that has been converted into a getaway brimming with character and charm. With spectacular views all around this rural escape, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind and yet is just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.
Sleeping up to 4 guests in one double room and one twin room, Steading Cottage is decorated and furnished in a farmhouse style and features an open plan social area on the ground floor. Here comfy seating is situated around the wood-burning stove - ideal for those cosy nights in. The duck-egg-blue kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher and utility room with freezer, washing machine and dryer, as well as a small dining table and chairs.
Heading up the spiral staircase leads to the first floor and the 2 bedrooms. One is a double and the other is a twin, both inviting guests in with their warm duvets. On this level is the family bathroom while there is a further shower room located on the ground floor. A tea tray with scones, jam, milk, and tea, as well as a bouquet of seasonal flowers will make those staying feel very welcome. With a private cottage garden alongside guests can enjoy a barbecue, or simply watch the sun set over the hills.
The cottage sits within Eastside Farm and overlooks the farmyard as the sheep roam the beautiful and rugged countryside of Pentland Hills Regional Park. The property is nestled right in the valley, allowing guests to wake up to the tranquil sound of lambs and birds outside the window, and offers the perfect starting point for a country walk; from a short stroll to a long afternoon hike.
Despite adopting its own peaceful corner of the Pentland Hills, Steading Cottage is just a short drive from the cultural city of Edinburgh. Whether heading to the Fringe Festival, exploring the history at the castle, or simply wandering the cobbled streets discovering shops and restaurants, Edinburgh has so much to offer and is a must see.

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewIt was great to come back to the lovely Steading cottages at Eastside...as welcoming, comfortable and peaceful as when we last stayed, some time ago! Lovely to walk up the Pentlands from the door, and all the delights of Edinburgh and the coast also within easy travel time. Many thanks again, Susan, hope to return a bit sooner next time! Best, Barbara
