The detail

This pretty cottage is located just a short walk from the beaches and town centre of Falmouth on the south coast of Cornwall. With three bedrooms, a private garden and relaxed living spaces, this is the perfect coastal escape for a romantic couple's retreat, a family or a small group of friends.

The cottage has a laid back feel with bright and airy open-plan living spaces. On the ground floor, you’ll find the kitchen and dining area which opens out onto the double-height sitting room. This is a lovely space with comfy sofas to sink into, a log burner for cosy evenings and exposed wooden beams overhead. The two double bedrooms are also found on the ground floor, one with a sumptuous king-size bed and the other with a luxurious hybrid mattress. The bathroom has a shower over bath and you’ll find delightfully fragranced and all-natural Bramley products.

There is a single mezzanine bedroom accessed via a spiral staircase in the sitting room. The cabin-style bed also makes for a cosy reading nook if you’re in need of a bit of peace and quiet during the day and there’s a pretty view out over the harbour. There’s also some desk space on this mezzanine level and the cottage is equipped with superfast broadband.

The cottage also has some relaxing outdoor spaces. There’s a terrace with views towards Falmouth Bay which gets plenty of sunshine and is a lovely spot for a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. There’s a garden area where you can spend a lazy afternoon reading a book in the hammock under the magnolia, or light the fire pit in the evening and toast some marshmallows as the sun sets. The garden is enclosed, making it dog-friendly, and there’s also space to store bikes or surfboards.

Gardener’s Cottage is perfectly located for making the most of Falmouth and everything is within walking distance. It’s a five-to-ten-minute stroll to get to the beach, and there are three to choose from, including Gyllngvase which is a blue flag beach. Wander down the Old High Street and explore the independent and vintage shops and stop off for a snack at one of the artisan bakeries. If you’re looking for some waves, there are some surfing beaches a bit further south on The Lizard.
