Fenton Lodge is a beautiful two-bedroom cottage sitting on the 16th Century Fenton Tower Estate. A modern addition that blends seamlessly with its much older counterpart, the lodge sits almost adjoined to the tower, but still benefits from its own unobstructed views of the magnificent Scottish countryside. While all necessary mod cons are available, the picturesque setting and abundance of outdoor pursuits on offer make this the ideal setting for putting your phone away and basking in the beauty of nature. And if it is city life that you are seeking, you are just a hop and barely a skip from Edinburgh. Sleeping up to four guests, Fenton Lodge is ideal for two couples, four singles or a small family.
The lodge is decorated in a sophisticated and understated manner and charming countryside artwork can be found throughout. The sloping ceilings are supported by exposed beams, while the skylights create a beautifully lit and airy space. The kitchen is well equipped (with its own Nespresso maker) while the adjoined living area has adequate comfortable seating which looks directly through glass double doors and onto the striking rolling countryside. The two super king-sized bedrooms are on either side of the living area. Each benefit from their own en suite bathrooms with his and hers sinks and both beds are "zip and link", meaning that they can be separate into two singles. The north bedroom has a beautiful window seat with stunning countryside views, while the south bedroom has a large walk in shower.
The estate itself is in the heart of East Lothian and has an abundance of things to keep visitors occupied. The local area is home to 15 quality golf courses - all within a 15-minute drive. There are also a variety of activities which can be arranged by, or with the assistance of, the estate. Whether it is horse riding, fishing, shooting, or a spot of birdwatching, your hosts will be happy to point you in the right direction. Just 40-minutes by car - or 25 by train - is the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. Much of this culturally and historically rich city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an array of things to see and do. From its various historical landmarks, gorgeous architecture, superb shopping, numerous restaurants, and thriving nightlife, there is something for everyone in this Midlothian gem.
