The Highlights...
- A recent addition to the collection is a stunning luxury pool, with architecturally impressive double height windows with interior timber cladding and views over the escarpment.
- Spacious communal dining room and catering-standard kitchen are shared by the cottages jointly.
- Fairoaks has partnered with a number of local catering companies to offer a flexible choice of world-class food and drinks across a variety of cuisines and styles of formality.
- The owners have licence to hold civil ceremonies for up to one hundred guests on-site.
You should know...
- It is worth booking in advance and liaising if you require all four barns simultaneously, as they do tend to get booked up, especially in the high season.
- The properties share party walls, some amenities, and outdoor space, although they each have their own kitchens, bathrooms, and gardens. It is worth factoring this in if privacy is important to you and you are only booking one barn.
The Detail...
Perched on an expansive private estate near to the Herefordshire-Gloucestershire border, you’ll find this collection of four recently refurbished former agricultural buildings, now painstakingly converted into self-catering holiday cottages. Available individually or as a four cottage, twenty four guest compound for larger groups, Fairoaks offers serious luxury in beautiful, historic buildings.
Each property has its own private garden, while just beyond these, the substantial grounds encompass trees, lawns, and other features of this verdant and wild landscape. They also share an indoor swimming pool, and a dining room which can accommodate up to twenty four guests, along with a scaled-up kitchen.
The barns started life around the year 1825, when they were built as working farm buildings, and have enjoyed a colourful history culminating in their current use as holiday accommodation. While all of them share a strong unifying aesthetic which blends exposed timber beams with high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and farmhouse-style kitchens, they each have their own distinct architectural characteristics.
Millhouse sleeps eight between four bedrooms (a king sized master with roll top bath and walk in shower, and three doubles, one of which can split into two singles) which share three bathrooms. The Barn enjoys a rustic French décor, and benefits from a master bedroom with similar features to Millhouse, and three en-suite bedrooms with double beds which can be divided into twin singles.
The floor to ceiling windows of The Carthouse ensure that the open plan living space is bathed in light, in this versatile and charming property with a double bedroom on the ground floor, and a Velux window equipped versatile twin singles or double accessed via a spiral staircase. Both bedrooms share a single bathroom. The Piggery has been refurbished with a more contemporary feel, pairing European style furniture and painted wood with sleek, confident lines, to create a cottage for four guests with a Scandinavian, airy interior. It is arranged on the ground floor, with one bathroom, and two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and with a double which can become twin singles.
Every one of the barn conversion is kitted out with underfloor heating, a log burning stove in the main living space, and a serious entertainment system encompassing WiFi, a Freeview enabled television, stereo system and DVD library. Views in each property take in the Cotswolds and the foothills of the Malverns.
Fairoaks is ideally located to take advantage of the gorgeous Malvern Hills, while the town of Ledbury with its rich literary history is just five miles away. Head to artsy Cheltenham with its famous festival and nationally renowned theatre, or drive twenty minutes to the Cotswolds, long celebrated for their unspoiled and picturesque rural appeal.
