Once used as an agrarian family homestead, Little Durns is a beautiful Georgian building that has been expertly renovated to create luxurious holiday accommodation. ‘Durns’ means ‘secret river’ in old New Forest dialect and the name is a perfect fit for this rural hideaway. Enjoy plenty of peace and quiet as you look out from the beautiful lattice windows over the croquet lawn and five acres of your own private estate. There’s a whole host of additional features that will make your stay extra special, such as the all-year heated pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen and even exclusive use of a Land Rover Defender.
The interior has been beautifully furnished in a way that celebrates its agrarian past but brings it right up to date with the finest 21st-century holiday accommodation. A neutral colour palette has been used, complementing the beautiful New Forest surroundings, with a mix of natural linen and velvets adding to the sense of luxury and style. Each room has its own personality, including the three sumptuous double bedrooms.
In the gorgeous, country-style kitchen, with exposed beams overhead, you’ll find a fully-stocked pantry and an impressive range cooker. Enjoy dinner in the stylish dining room before getting cosy in the sitting room with a board game in front of the wood-burner. The three bedrooms are all beautifully furnished with big comfortable beds and luxurious linen. Fluffy towels, robes and slippers will be waiting for you and the bathrooms feature rainfall showers and a roll-top bathtub.
Head outside, across the immaculate croquet lawn, to the heated pool. You’ll also find a pool house and bar, and a copper spa bath. During the warmer months, Little Durns invites you to really make the most of the gardens with the outdoor kitchen featuring a pizza oven. There’s also an outdoor cinema located below the treehouse. Venturing a little further afield into the New Forest couldn’t be easier. There are mountain bikes in the garage, completely at your disposal, as well as full use of the Land Rover Defender during your stay.
There’s plenty to explore in the local area, whether you prefer coastal scenery or the charm of the New Forest’s flora and fauna. The estate has a private powerboat waiting to take you on an adventure out to the Isle of Wight’s Needles or for a sundowner at Hurst Castle. Explore the New Forest on a guided mountain bike tour right from your front door or try a bit of sea swimming or kayaking. There are plenty of walking trails in the national park that will help you explore the beautiful scenery at a slower pace and the bustling port town of Lymington is just a 10-minute drive away.
