Overlooking a tranquil and placid swimming pond, Dragonfly Cabin is a newly renovated, super-romantic self-catering cabin with everything you need for a holiday for two. With pleasing, elegant design and access to the natural swimming pond, Dragonfly Cabin is the perfect retreat for individuals and couples looking to get away from the stresses of urban life and spend quality time in nature.
Dragonfly Cabin started life as a bird hide opposite an historic horse pond. Both pond and cabin have recently undergone judicious development, with the pond now a haven for wildlife and a unique, private swimming spot. Simultaneously, the structure has been converted into a comfortable cabin, with plenty of space for two, the standout attraction is the picture window which gazes out from the main living space over the pond.
Whatever the weather or time of day, this is the perfect spot to sit with a cup of coffee, glass of wine, or a book, watching the birds and the steady sway of the surrounding trees. The bedroom has a king-size bed, made up with Egyptian cotton, and wonderful views, while the en-suite bathroom has a unique copper lined shower. The toiletries come from a local organic artisan soap company, and there is no shortage of hot water or fluffy towels. The kitchenette contains a fridge, kettle, toaster and Nespesso machine, and there is even a small, well designed dining area.
Everything about Dragonfly Cabin has been judiciously selected, creating a homely and well-crafted space which exists in harmony with the surrounding environment. If your idea of a dream holiday involves Netflix, the occasional work email, or keeping in touch with relatives, you’ll be delighted that such a tranquil space has fast fibre broadband, although many guests choose to detox from the digital world during their stay, finding a peace and calm which comes from swimming in the pond and strolling out along the jetty while the dew is still on the grass and branches.
There is often no reason to leave the cabin and surrounding pond side space, but for those who fancy a jaunt to town, Cambridge is just five miles away. Stroll through the architecturally stunning colleges, take a punt along the Cam, and treat yourself to a delicious meal out. Alternatively, the local market towns of Saffron Walden and Bury St Edmunds are brimming with charm and culture. For a slap-up English breakfast delivered to your door, your hosts at Crafts Hill Barn have you covered, and also can provide brilliant platters and picnics. For a pub lunch with great ale and local cheer, head to The Black Horse, or The Three Horseshoes.

Absolutely stunning. This beautifully decorated and equipped cabin feels remote, peaceful and serene yet it’s only a few miles to Cambridge. The food was delicious and we left feeling completely relaxed. We will definitely return.

Dragonfly Cabin is a little haven that feels like a wilderness, even though it's just five miles from the city of Cambridge, with easy access to local shops and so on. I had all sorts of plans to visit galleries, go shopping etc. but the cabin weaved it's magic and I didn't get back in the car once! It's so cosy and warm and Jo and Tim have thought of everything. The breakfast supplies are delicious; home made bread, fresh fruit, lots of fresh milk, juice and yoghurt. The cabin itself is beautifully designed, facing over the swimming pond with a deck and fire pit. The bed is sooooo comfortable that it was difficult to drag myself out and into the pond, but it was worth it. The water is silky smooth, and even in November the temperature was good for a morning dip (waiting till the sun hit the water on day two made a big difference!). There are good walks from the door and these have been written up with maps and information, so I enjoyed a five mile walk to Lolworth and across farmland, only seeing one other person. Coming back to the cabin felt like coming home. Jo made me feel so welcome and I felt that I could ask for anything, but I simply didn't need to. Already planning my next break!

Visited Dragonfly Cabin for my partners birthday and it was an absolute dream! The cabin definitely deserves its spot in ‘cool stays’ - access to its own natural swimming pond was amazing. So much attention to detail from the hosts to ensure we were looked after and comfortable for our stay. We enjoyed the DIY pizza pack on the first night and delicious continental and cooked breakfast in the mornings. Thankyou Jo for a lovely weekend!

We stayed in Dragonfly Cabin for four nights and it was just the perfect relaxing break we needed. The cabin is set in a beautiful spot right next to the swimming pond which you have to yourselves other than for one hour a day. We were blessed with fabulous weather and days were spent swimming in the pond with the damsel and dragonflies for company and reading on the veranda. The two platters we ordered (Fisherman’s and Gardener’s) were both delicious and generously portioned, and we also enjoyed cooking on the fire with the Firepit Pack (the burgers from a local butcher were particularly tasty). The continental breakfasts were also really good, especially the home made bread delivered each day. We kept the curtains open at night and so waking up to the view of the pond, trees and wildlife each morning was a real delight. There is a small amount of traffic noise from the road that goes through the village but it’s only really at peak times in the morning and evening and really doesn’t distract from how peaceful it feels. We thoroughly enjoyed living the cabin life for a few days and have already booked to go back next year, we can’t wait!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Dragonfly Cabin. Jo has thought of every single little touch and was super accommodating as we arrived late on Friday evening. As an escape from London this was the perfect quiet weekend away. Having the use of the lake and fire pit was an absolute treat. We will definitely be back in the summer! Thanks Jo.

We had the most peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable 3 night stay at the Dragonfly Cabin to celebrate our anniversary. There were many thoughtful touches throughout that really topped off what is a perfect location and very well designed, clean, cosy cabin. When we first arrived late into the evening Jo had ensured the cabin was warm, well lit and there was soft music playing which gave us an incline into the level of hospitality that she offered. Have already recommended this place to many friends and family and is probably the only place that we would ever return to again in the future. Thank you so much!

Such a special place, Jo and Tim have created a beautiful space here well designed and thought out. It had everything that you needed for a perfect getaway. Sitting outside the cabin overlooking the pond you really did feel miles from anywhere and yet only eight minutes from the nearest shops. The breakfast was lovely plenty of things to eat specially Jo's homemade bread Jo really does go the extra mile but is not intrusive in any way.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for my 21st birthday and what a memorable stay it was! The cabin is the perfect place for a couples get away. Super cosy and comfortable. There has been a lot of thought put into the detail of the cabin. Would 100% recommend to others!

A wonderful, relaxing retreat ! This cabin is beautifully designed and very comfortable. Such gorgeous extra touches such as games, robes and crocs to wear by the lake. The freshly baked bread in the morning is a real treat too. We recommend getting the BBQ package to cook over the fire one night, was really special. We absolutely loved our 3 night stay to escape city life and will be recommended to all friends and family. Thank you Jo!

A wonderful cosy cabin with very thoughtful touches throughout and the hosts having very much gone the extra mile with the delicious home made treats provided. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly and on hand if you needed anything but left you alone otherwise. A very relaxing spot which we would highly recommend.
