Nestled on a charming property made up of historic farm buildings, subtly renovated with elegance and taste, The Cart Shed is a romantic and picturesque self-catering cottage, ideal for couples. With a combination of high-end restoration and original features, The Cart Shed boasts high ceilings, unfinished timber walls and joists and bespoke bronze windows. The house itself has been designed to take advantage of the expansive rural views, whilst allowing light to pour in through the windows. The house is built around a central living space, with an engineered wood-burning stove, a slick fitted kitchen area and an all-purpose studying, relaxing or dining area. Throughout, antique furniture and local artworks lend the space a grandeur and sophistication which manages to be warm and cosy.
Everything about the space suggests a total commitment to luxury, from the unique Italian bath tub for a lengthy soak at the end of the day, through to the underfloor heating and Savoir mattress in the four poster bed, guaranteeing you comfort whatever time of year you visit. The bathrooms also feature giant, luxury, walk-in showers with rainfall shower heads. Outdoors, recline on robust furniture with a glass of wine and a good book, or sink into the hot tub after a lengthy day of hiking through the Cambridgeshire countryside. For couples who enjoy subtle, well-made spaces in rural idylls, The Cart Shed offers the promise of lazy mornings spent drinking good coffee, lengthy walks to country pubs with Sunday roasts and romantic meals using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients served by candlelight.
As well as your own south-facing courtyard and private terrace, you're welcome to explore the estate's 23 acres of charming, beautiful land. You're also just a four mile drive from the very centre of Cambridge, which is home to world-class eateries and historic architecture. The charming hustle and bustle of England's quintessential college town makes for a wonderful trip. The museums and art galleries which Cambridge is celebrated for really are second to none, and there is something for everyone within this riverside city. You're also a short drive to the historic town of Newmarket where you can spend the day at the races.
And if you want to stay a little closer to home and want to visit the perfect country pub you can take a short stroll into the village to The Crown and Punchbowl for an unforgettable meal. Whether your ideal getaway features medieval churches or train rides into town, lengthy bike rides or cocktails in your private outdoors hot tub, The Cart Shed has it all.
