The Details...

Escape from the stresses of city life with a relaxing break in a lovingly restored former-Buttery in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. This cosy and chic cottage is just one hour away from central London making it the ideal getaway when the green grass and fresh air are calling.

Rural, yet not too remote, traditional yet contemporary, this property, which sleeps two, makes a perfect location for a romantic break.

Exposed bricks and oak beams ensure the character of this lovely cottage has been retained, with underfloor heating, a wood burner (with a basket of logs) and sheep wool insulation to keep you snug and warm as you cuddle up on the large, stylish, fawn sofa. The sofa looks directly across to a large glass door which lets in an
abundance of light and offers wonderful views of the surrounding farmland. A large gilt framed mirror hangs above the sitting area, enhancing the light and adding a decadent, decorative touch, with antique books and orchids further complimenting the interior design.

This open plan area has a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, taking away the stress from cooking, and those romantic suppers can be enjoyed by candlelight at the circular dining table. On warmer evenings, sit outside and take in the sounds of nature from the cottage's private garden.

Through to the bedroom and another peaceful view can be enjoyed from a large, glass window/door which leads directly out on to the farmhouse courtyard.

A Hynos mattress and soft throws, silk duvets and linen sheets will guarantee a deep, uninterrupted sleep. A fabulous feature of the bedroom is the beautiful, natural chestnut boarding which adorns one of the walls, while another gold-framed mirror just adds to that overall sense of luxury.

After a restful sleep, jump out of bed for a shower in the stunning, marble-clad en-suite bathroom. This clean, bright, stylish and modern bathroom, with a large sink, plenty of lighting and complimentary toiletries, will make for a heavenly start to the day leaving you relaxed and reinvigorated for a day exploring the surrounding area.

The Cambridgeshire countryside has an abundance of country walks and pretty villages with great pubs serving good food. Close to The Buttery is the picturesque village of Horningsea, home to a lovely pub, The Crown and the Punchbowl, which is known for its good food.

Just three miles away is the historic city of Cambridge. This famous city has an abundance of shops, restaurants, and world-class museums. But no trip to Cambridge would be complete without a taking a Punt on the River Cam and taking in the stunning archictecture from the comfort of the water.
