The detail

Slip away with that special someone and get a fresh-faced country glow, at this bijoux lover’s cottage in cider’s home away from home. Hidden in the depths of rural Westcombe, amongst Somerset’s rugged country scenes, Cider House West is the ultimate hideout for that much-needed TLC. Amble through endless, local footpaths and tranquil wildflower meadows, past the rippling Mendip Hills and whispering, age-old woodlands. There are award-winning pubs and charming, rural hamlets, along with the bohemian sights of Glastonbury and historic Bath city.

Cider House West rests on a small, rural estate and is a romantic, studio cottage just a few metres from the family farmhouse. With its own private, lane access and exclusive, stone courtyard, it is a beautifully, secluded retreat for quality time with loved ones.

Its original stone exterior is framed by the colourful, shared gardens and gives way to snug, designer interiors with an authentic, down-to-earth atmosphere. Picture vintage leather armchairs atop heated flagstone floors, beside slate-topped kitchen worktops and bare, open stonework. Traditional wood craftsmanship compliments the quality, natural materials and is joined by an eclectic mix of country touches and Asian-inspired artwork.

The downstairs living area is perfect for two and has a cosy lounge overlooking an open-plan kitchen area. Cook tempting evening meals in the compact, country kitchen, before throwing logs on the fire and curling up on the sink-in sofas. An alluring king-size bed is waiting up on the mezzanine level complete with its own freestanding in-room tub for that added touch of romance. Sneak up for early nights or indulge in long morning lie-ins, with its luxurious bedding and seductive vibes you'll enjoy every moment.

A chic-rustic wet room can be found back downstairs and boasts exposed bricks, uneven tiles and industrial, open pipework. Let the deluxe power shower blow the morning cobwebs away before you step beyond your courtyard to enjoy relaxed country days.

Bring your walking boots and explore Somerset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stopping off in picturesque villages, stunning landscapes and impressive towns and cities. Visit sleepy Westcombe hamlet or the market town of Burton, or the ancient cities of Bath and Wells or Glastonbury’s famous festival. Spend days out on the Jurassic Coast or at Longleat Safari Park, before retiring to your secret courtyard and its starlit, country gardens.

Amazing cottage! The attention to detail is fabulous. So very well thought out. So much in such a small area. Can’t recommend Cider House West enough. Lucinda & Jeremy are great hosts. So friendly and very helpful. Everything you need is supplied, tea, coffee, bread, butter, fresh eggs, milk, Jam, even fresh flowers. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. We had a lovely week!

Amazing hosts. The most gorgeous cottage I’ve ever stayed in. I didn’t want to leave. Clean, quirky, cosy, so well equipped and amazing walks on the doorstep! I will definitely be going back. The luxurious bath in the bedroom was such a treat as was the wood burning stove that kept me and my doggies cosy. Dark skies and quiet. A place of utter peace and tranquility. Came away revived and feeling spoilt. Perfect in every way.
