Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
Agriturismo Castellare is listed in affiliation with Vrbo.
Castellare is an ancient building set high on the hills that surround Florence. Invisible from the road that brings you here and completely surrounded by nature, Castellare is comprised of four residences that are available either individually or collectively. Each accommodation has it's own private entrance and outside space, with table and chairs.
Step into Stalla, the largest house on the estate, and you’ll find paintings from well-known artists throughout. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom; downstairs is a big open space with a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room area that’s ideal for a family or a small group of friends to holiday together. Look out for an original stone floor and traditional pieces of furniture from the Italian family that own the property. There are plenty of books left to inspire you. Outside the living room door is a private garden with table and chairs, perfect for a romantic al fresco supper.
The Loggia is ideal for two, or can suit up to four with two on the comfortable sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen boasts a lovely view of the olive trees that spread for three hectares behind the house, and you’re welcome to help yourself to the fresh herbs from the fragrant herb garden.
The Capanna looks like something from a fairytale, a small stone house completely surrounded by flora. A favourite spot for deer; it’s lovely to sit out in the garden and spot varieties of birds, squirrels and other wildlife. The Capanna has a double sofabed in the living room if required.
The Stalletta is a part of the Castellare property and makes a cosy nest for two. Here you’ll find a bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette, and a spacious bathroom. A big glass door opens onto a private garden with space to sit out in the sunshine.
And if you’re an artist, or a budding one, why not spend some time with maestro Lorenzo Bencini, an art printer, onsite? Individual tuition in the art of etching can be provided, so please contact the owners to arrange. There is also a single sofabed in the living room.
There are plenty of walks to take through the hills and villages to explore in the local area that you could easily just immerse yourself in a relaxed, local way of life. Castellare is actually on a very important walking treck, called the Anello Rinascimentale, (the Renaissance Ring), a walk that goes about 170 km all around Florence, and that passes through the property. But when you’re in the mood for some culture head to Florence, to see such sites as the Galleria degli Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and Museo di San Marco. A riverside walk and just a wander through the city to admire the many sculptures is a must, as well as stopping to drink and eat fine Italian cuisine in this fascinating city.
Your host, Catina, is also always on hand to answer any questions and advise you how best to immerse yourself in the local culture and feel part of the community in no time at all. She has also written a notebook to take with you, with tips on lovely restaurants and pizza places, information about shops, markets, trains and places to see.
