Located in the historic town of Medina Sidonia this romantic dwelling for two overlooks the Bay of Cadiz. This modern hideaway offers unparalleled views across to North Africa in the beautiful Andalucia region of Southern Spain.
Sleeping two guests the house itself is built against the ancient Arabic walls around the town, which date back to the 9th Century. The exposed stone walls run throughout the property, blending the old with the new. After coming off the cobbled streets, guests enter from the patio via glass doors straight into the bright and airy living area. This modern room is complete with a TV with Netflix, as well as several games, books, and DVDs.
Also accessed from the patio - which is big enough for a small table and chairs - is the fully equipped kitchen. A welcome hamper filled with local treats, such as Serrano ham, manchego cheese, and pastries from the local nunnery greet those staying. Here there is a fridge, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and a dining table and chairs.
An external staircase heads up to the first floor, which is home to the bedroom with a comfy king size bed and en-suite shower room. Also on this level are two separate roof terraces, which offer spectacular views across the rooftops and down to the Mediterranean Sea beyond. With loungers and privacy, this is the perfect spot to while away the afternoon with a cold drink of choice.
Guests of Casa La Muralla also have access to the hotel opposite, which is run by the same hosts and is called La Vista de Medina. Those staying will be given a key so they can come and go as they please in the gardens and use the pool.
This stunning area on the Spanish coast is prime for exploring as well. Just five minutes from the front door is the main square of Medina Sidonia - a superb spot for a tapas lunch - as well as an amazing 16th Century church. Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe, is only a 35-minute drive away and is home to a number of great bars and restaurants, as well as the sandy beach of La Caleta.
